I really dislike the notion of oneitis. It seems to me to be a nihilistic attempt at safeguarding the ego for the sake of the assertion that you're going to fail at sharing a deep, life-lasting love.

We should be embracing oneitis. When two individuals both want nobody other than one another, you've created the potential for an eternity of experiences, of sharing, of commitment, and of connection. You unwrap the layers of the psyche; of the heart--and unveil the potential for something that stands against the test of time. That bonding is broken only by the greatest power in the physical universe...death.

Everything else is superficial and shallow. We love fleeting, attached and detached from others almost haphazardly. We strive for connections, staying leery of said connection becoming TOO deep. And why? Because we want more? Because you can't get enough? Are we insatiable monsters? Must we consume until there's nothing more?

Our hearts are empty and this is why we long as we do. We make up excuses--we fabricate reasons for behaviors that safeguard the ego. That level of love is too deadly, for in its loss are we eternally scarred. The trauma, it is too great.

It is too great, and that's why we should be telling the tale of unbreakable love. We should be seeking nothing less. No whimsical, haphazard commitment. No superficial attachments, broken on a whim and without a single tear shed--almost as if we're machines to use each other until we get an upgrade, or simply want to experiment with a different version.

When boredom takes love away from us, it was never love at all. It was us, in mere delusion.
