I'm no casanova, but I do okay. That is, I know my niche, I'm a 'cool' nerd who can talk to women and I'm moderately good looking. By no means am I conventionally attractive and I'm like 5'9, but I believe it's my ability to be candid and open that works in my favour. I play within and around my league and that's fine with me, considering my better than decent batting average.

Regardless, this post isn't about my 'successes' if you will and I hate pissing contests. What I'm on about is a sentiment I've read before and tend to agree with. However, last night just hammered it home for me. After a certain number of women, it just becomes so meaningless, it feels samey and bland, it feels like there's no excitement. I went on a date with a girl from Tinder and we ended up back at mine, had sex, etc. She leaves, I reply with the niceties and whatnot saying it would be cool to spend time together again. She tells me this morning that she doesn't see "this" [us] working in the long-term and wishes me well. Okay, that's fine and dandy, there were red flags raised throughout and I agree that long-term would be probably very wrong but alas, it was nice to have good conversations and a bit of physical intimacy. But, I can't help but feel sad after this. While most guys would consider this a big win since it was an NSA affair, I just feel empty. I do not consider this a win. It just feels like another notch in my belt. It feels so tired.

I've had this situation occur several times in the past year, where we sleep together and we got on pretty well etc., but it's a ONS. This was never the intent at the get-go, but it ends up being this way. It has me questioning my own self-worth as a potential partner. It has me questioning if there is something fundamentally wrong with me. I know I've many great qualities and I've my life fairly together at 26 - own apartment, a good gig in consulting, good friends, a gym routine, the whole shebang - but it seems that the only thing I "get" is sex.

This feels ridiculous to complain about, but I love getting to know people and spending time with them. Even if we don't work out long-term, what's the harm in hanging out more and getting to know one another more deeply? Not all roads have to lead to being married or moving in together...

How do you guys cope with this? Is there a way to cope? Do I just never sleep with someone again until we're both surely committed to one another? Something has to give.
