Before I've decided to get into pickup I used to be extremely socially anxious. I couldn't talk to my driving instructor, the barbers or the cashiers at stores; I only had 2 friends at school and dinner with my parents just consisted of silence. I just sat in my room and played video games for the majority of the time; I didn't go out all that much.

However, when I've decided that I couldn't keep on living that life forever, I've decided to change my life. Here are all the positive non-pickup related things that have changed in my life since I've started doing pickup.

  • I can actually hold a conversation with people. Where I would try to avoid social contact as much as possible, I now look forward to interacting with people. I've also managed to make a lot of new friends at my school.
  • I've started working out. To be honest, when I've first started pickup, I didn't actually have a schedule for myself, and I just lifted weights 'whenever I felt like it'. In fact, this video by CGP Grey convinced me to work out on a schedule.
  • I've became a lot more accepting of my flaws. One of the reasons why I rarely attempted to approach girls on my own was because I believed that I was extremely ugly (I was born with the left side of my nose missing, and the surgeon made a minor mistake trying to correct that), and that girls only cared about looks. Of course, I have heard that confidence is more important than your looks, but I still had my doubts. However, when I've approached girls in both confident and unconfident ways (as an experiment), I actually saw for myself what an impact confidence made.
  • I started to actually take care of my appearance. Sure, while confidence might be the most important, working on your appearance doesn't hurt anyone. As mentioned before, I am already working out, but I'm also getting clothes and haircuts that actually look good instead of 'just picking some random stuff'.

There are also a few other ways in which my life improved, but they are pretty minor.

So, thank you guys. Without this subreddit, I would probably have never tried to improve my life.
