Background: I'm possibly at the beginning of a long term relationship. (I know /r/relationship_advice is more topically suited, but I'm not looking for advice from those people). I got cheated on in my last relationship, long story (okay, I cheated first). Anyway, I don't want to risk that again. I see now that, after I cheated and broke up with her and then got back with her, I was sometimes too supplicating. I'm now getting into a new relationship and I've adopted a much more alpha mindset in the interim. It's starting to flow naturally (and damn does it feel good when you know you hit just the right pitch) but it's still something I'm constantly and consciously calibrating. The abundance mindset works wonders for all types of game.
Question(s): How do I make a robust, romantic relationship without supplicating? Is buying flowers (someday, maybe, jewelry) or cooking breakfast while she sleeps or planning a romantic weekend with strawberries and rose-petals, etc. a completely beta thing to do? I can picture George Clooney doing all of these things. I don't know if I can picture Bas Rutten doing them. What about the Most Interesting Man in the World?
My initial thought is that it's more in how you do these activities than that you do them. Do any of you have experience (e.g. yourself or from watching your parents) with an alpha in an LTR who keeps the girl faithful and squealing with excitement about her man. Does that man buy flowers, etc.? If not, what is the woman's response? If so, how is his technique non-supplicating?
I know a big part of keeping her interested is cat-string theory and I'm beginning to see how that plays out in the long term to keep her on her toes. Also, not taking her shit, being strong-willed, directing her when needed, etc. But it seems like part of an LTR involves making yourself vulnerable. How do I do this while remaining alpha?
I've been reading this blog, the Married Man Sex Blog about alpha in LTR situations and it's had some interesting insights.
I'm wondering how to transition out of the lust phase and keep her satisfied without supplicating. Will a woman who doesn't get flowers, etc. eventually leave?
I should add that things are going great now. I think I've calibrated a good balance of being alpha while still being vulnerable. Also, after realizing how many fucking girls there are, I have no interest in a less-than-awesome relationship. So I'm either pursuing it on my terms or not at all.
Also, any other thoughts on game in an LTR are appreciated.
Edit: I had been thinking about this issue the last couple weeks. Then I re-read this post, which prompts the above questions.
