Actually, I found "Minnesota Nice" actually got in the way. Very, very, very hard to tell the difference between someone genuinely interested in you, and someone being "Minnesota Nice".

I'm from MN, Twin Cities. I would say the only requirement for you would be go where the ladies are. Suburbs are pretty pointless unless you find some decent local bar. For the most part, everyone in the Twin Cities between the ages of 18-30 lives in the cities. Of course there are apartment buildings in the burbs filled with young people, but they ALL end up in Minneapolis and Saint Paul on the weekends.

Minneapolis:

Downtown is filled with clubs and pubs, and is packed every weekend, where you go depends more on your style and what type of girls your looking for. Everything from casual bars where you can work solid conversation, to straight up dance clubs. There is also Uptown, Dinkytown, and North East areas in Minneapolis, all of which have their own little scenes. Uptown is pretty much the same type of crowd as downtown but does have somewhat of an older crowd as well of a lot of witty, smart, hippy girls, Dinkytown is the college age drinking area right by UofM on the East Bank, and North East tends to be your more hip/scene type area with a lot of locals from the area.

Saint Paul:

Grand Avenue area is about the only real "happening" places on the weekends. The Onion is kind of a clubby type atmosphere, and has a dance floor. Also, Billy's, across the street is just a pub, but has multiple bars, is always packed, and much better for conversation and talking to people.

Welcome, and good luck. For clarity I'm not a "PUA" or anything in the area, I just go out with my friends and we do what we do, but these are the areas and places in town that you need to look into. If you want the largest number of bars you can walk to, in a small area, go downtown Minneapolis.
