There's a funny joke with some truth to it "women are already at the grocery store getting a bunch of things they don't need so they might as well get a guy too".

Simple direct game (honesty) is always the best route.

"Hi I see you working here sometimes and I just want to say you're really cute. My name's (insert name), what's your name?"

Get her contact info "I'd like for the both of us to get to know each other better and I want to take you out for coffee, tea or ice cream whichever you prefer. What's your number?"

First, make sure your physiological state is strong. It's much more about how you make a women feel in your presence than the words you literally say.

Next, break the ice with a comment/observation/question. For example, "I'm curious, how did you end up choosing to work at a grocery store? Do you like it? Are you trying to earn money for anything particular?" etc.

Then show interest with a compliment that demonstrates how special you think she is. For example, "Going to the grocery store used to be so lame and boring, but seeing you actually makes me look forward to it."

Get her name.

She's working so you can't interrupt her for very long (unless it's slow, in which case, keep talking to her as long as she won't get in trouble), so tell her, "I don't want to get you in trouble for talking to you at work, but, [name], I think you're really cool. Grab a drink with me tomorrow evening?"

If she says yes, get her number. Done.

There’s tons of stuff around in a store that you could ask her. “Can you show me where xyz is?”, “do you know whether your store carries xyz?” Etc.

“Can you help me with this stuff I’ve been trying to get, hurry follow me” then she’ll follow you to another aisle, then ask her name and phone # there. This is one of my cheesy ones I always get the girls at least giggles and laughs. 70-80% of the time works.

The fact that you don't have the balls to directly approach her makes this already a fail. I'd leave it if you like shopping there.

If you're going to be stupid, you might as well be funny. Fill a hand basket with eggplants and ask her if she likes emojis.
