Ok so i was trying to think how to title this so it would hit the topic of the question.
So, i was in sales for a little over a year. I learned a lot of preconceived notions about sales i had were grossly incorrect. For example:”all sales guys are pushy.” You hear all the time and i honestly believed it. But gave sales a chance. I was watching some videos and one of the videos was addressing this problem. They called them limiting beliefs (a preconceived notion or belief that isn’t true which holds back your full potential). The guy in the video went on to say your primary job as a sales person is to help people solve their problems. And the reason this notion exists is because people every day tell you the “i need to talk to my ‘x’ about this before we decide” and sometimes its an real objection and they do need to discuss it. The thing is people have the tendency to forget and never get back with you. So in order to make sure this problem gets solved for them you follow up frequently with every one that you are trying to help. This tends to make you look pushy to some people who don’t understand you just want to help. You also get placed in the same bucket with all the sleazy sales guys who tried to sell them something similar in the past.
Another situation where a sales guy could be perceived as sleazy is when you are handling their objections (objections for those of you that don’t know are things people bring up to say what they need solved before they can consider purchasing.) One thing you have to understand about objections is they fall in to two categories: actual concerns or obstacles or put offs trying to get rid of you and they really don’t have that objection. As a sales person selling something you get the objection “ i don’t have the money” because you don’t know if this is a legitimate objection or just a put off you address it as an actual problem. When you do this (if it was a put off) they feel like you’re pushing yourself on them. But when its a real concern then they are grateful for you helping them figure out a way for them to still purchase. So the put off clients just feel like you’re being sleazy. And this furthers the idea of sales people being sleazy.
Understanding this dynamic of limiting beliefs allows you to question your interpretation of reality and try to further adjust it to accurately match reality.
Ok so i had to explain that to then move to my question. I see a lot of day game posts talking about talking highly sexual to women. Sometimes they say on the first date to make sexual comments like texting a girl while you follow her in a bar or restaurant and say “nice ass”.
I also see guys who really sexualize over text or social media. But it blows up in their face when she makes some post on her facebook wall trying to embarrass him.
Isn’t this inherently just disrespectful or do women really enjoy this and being nice and sexually respectful just another limiting belief or social cliche like “all salesmen are sleazy crooks.” Does being highly sexual really work?
Sorry for the long winded explanation to get to the point.
