About a month ago, I decided to finally get my teeth straightened and opted for lingual braces with my orthodontist (they're braces that go behind the teeth rather than in front). I was warned in advance that it would affect my speech for a while but I figured that it'd still be worth it so I went for it anyway. My friends tell me that the speech change is only really noticeable with certain words/phrases, and I know that the slightest variance in speech will be more noticeable to me than to anyone else (most of it is probably in my head).

My question is how, if at all, should I go about addressing this issue when talking to women? I've never really had a problem with approaching and talking to women in pretty much any environment, but now that I have the dental work in place I feel as though I have a bit of a hurdle in the path of my self-confidence. I imagine that women consider speech problems to be one of those things that gets you an instant red stamp, so I try to be a little more engaging than usual to help keep her mind off of it, but I'd definitely like to hear what some of you have to suggest since that method isn't exactly foolproof.

TL;DR Got lingual braces. Have speech impediment. Tips on keeping her attention off of it.
