Be less boring by leaving out--

Be more interesting by being more interesting. Everybody NEEDS engineers, but why would anyone want to talk to one at a party? What is fascinating about what you do? Is there anything you do that is exciting? Dangerous? Mysterious? Sexy? Fun? Do you travel? Have you ever rescued somebody/thing? What kind of food are you really good at cooking? There's all kinds of shit we don't think about that is interesting.

Do you show value by doing the above but also by being an expert on a subject your audience cares about and critiquing related things in your environment? Do you show implied investment by talking about the things you like in a way that shows other people care about you and do things for you (and you think it's normal, not especially special)?

These are some of the subtle aspects of game I'm working on right now. Good luck.

Lastly, I want to leave you with a two-part something to think about that should help. First, when doing the online thing, keep it as short as possible and get it moving forward as fast as possible, i.e. out on a date ASAP, don't let it die in the emotionless void of black and white text. Secondly, get out there and meet real women face to face in public, you'll do a lot better online.

although I've read some material, still not sure about trying the PUA thing. I don't have a good wingman and otherwise wouldn't want to do that alone.

Aha, because you haven't even really tried it! PUA is all about real life practice not just reading theory. And you don't need a wingman. Just give it a chance.

It's all about finding common interest. What are you looking for in a girl? You say that there are not a whole lot of girls to meet at school- so does that mean you're looking for another engineer?

You don't need to go to the gym to make yourself look better or feel better.

That said, why WOULDN'T you want to go to the gym and look/feel better? Seriously, don't you think you'd approach better women and deal with them exceptionally if you felt "better?" Shit man, life isn't a game of giving up advantages. You're in your early 20s too, I assume- you're gonna watch everyone you know in your peer group fall off and fall into shitty shape in the next five years. Get out ahead of the pack. Do whatever you want, but get serious about your physical condition- set goals that seem "crazy" and meet them. Don't strive to be average- strive to be great.

BTW- statistically, this will keep you alive to have/raise/feed kids and other people you love longer. If you ever want to settle down (even if you don't and just believe in evolution and how important it is to pass your genes on) you'll be way better off with an aggressive health/fitness strategy without one. Women are attracted to men who have passion, and they're attracted to men who care for themselves. No better place to start than your physical condition.

Thanks for all the replies/advice guys. I'm actually heading down to the local whiskey bar tonight with my roommate to see some bands...I'm gonna try and work on some approaches and actually talk to some people if I can.
