You have her on FB? Send a message just asking her to hit you up with her # because you lost it (use the excuse of lost/destroyed phone etc) and then once you get it, send her a txt something simple like "hey it's john, thanks for giving your # again.. my phone is fixed!" then just take it from there.. if she gives the vague 'haha sounds good' or 'haha k cool no prob!' etc. then don't worry about feeling awkward because chances are - she's cool with letting things lie.

if her responses elicit more conversation, then just go with the flow at least long enough to make sure she's not psychotic/clingy lol

If she hasn't tried at all to contact you, you're probably in the clear. Next time you see her, a simple explanation would be nice.

Strauss says call the next day, even if you never want to see her again. Call the next day so she doesn't feel used. The rest is optional.

Next time you see her, treat her like you normally do and keep it light. No need to bring it up at this time, but you should probably invite her to coffee or something sometime. If you meet by happenstance, then she may be a bit awkward/aloof, so you'll most definitely have to make the first move. The fact that she hasn't contacted you, and that you're friends, probably implies that she was waiting for you, and may be resentful that you had sex and haven't talked to her. No matter what excuse you give her for not contacting her will likely seem like just that to her - an excuse. So, I wouldn't bother. That's my take.

EDIT: This is my take on the situation if you were friends. I reread what you said and you said you were acquaintances, so, If you feel like keeping in touch with her, go for it. If not, there's no point in talking to her if you're just doing it to make yourself feel better.

My etiquette is as follows.

1) Have one night stand 2) If I don't want to see her again, never contact again. If I do want to see her again, maybe text her the next day that I had fun, then text her 2-4 days later for another hookup.

However I'm not even so sure about texting the next day. Even for girls I was interested in, texting the next day has bitten me in the ass because you're giving them too much attention and it freaks them out. Sometimes the girl just wants a one-night thing, and you need to recognize when that is the case.

Do you want to contact her? If so, use FB if you're friends with her, or ask a mutual friend (which will be fine since you previously had her contact info).
