So I was on Campus, and we had this horrible musician by the name of Mac Miller gracing us with a free concert last weekend.(I wish I knew why they wasted tuition money on this shit) At first I was like "Free concert? Great I'm there" Then after a quick google I realized you couldn't pay me to listen to that shit and enjoy it.

So of course I somehow ended up there... by accident actually.

So there I was standing outside watching them set up for this concert. I decided while I was there I would open some chicks. Anyways I saw a couple of HB7s sitting on a brick wall. I approached and asked them "Hey whats going on here? Is someone going to be playing music or something?" They responded excitedly with the whole "OMG Mac Miller!"

"Really?" I replied, "Who is he? Do you have any music on like an ipod or anything? Maybe I'll stick around for it! Sounds like fun!"

By now I could tell these girls were receptive of me, they were smiling, upbeat, and showing good body language.

So the girls produced an ipod and after a brief twenty seconds of listening to one of her favorite mac miller songs, I handed it back to her and, with a smile, just said, "Sorry not really my kind of thing." I told them I didn't enjoy it. One girl responded "Oh, ok, respect, whatever" I could tell the were slightly disappointing.

Here is where I start to drown. I felt like I couldn't Identify with these girls, since I consider myself more of an intellectual and nerdy type than these sexy, dingy, horrible music-liking, girls. I couldn't think of anything else productive to say, and I think its better to make a smooth exit and retain my masculinity, than to linger and watch the situation slowly turn awkward. So I politely said "Thanks girls, enjoy!" Smiled, and walked away.

My question is what can I do in situations like this in the future to improve the outcome? I know that I shouldn't have drawn negative attention to the music like that, it was just plain stupid of me, and really throttled the conversation. Should I have lied and pretended to actually enjoy that shit(My guts tell me no)? I know its possible to find something to identify with almost ANYONE! How can I quickly find common ground or something to keep the conversation going? How can I a nerdy-intellect type begin picking up on the preppy dingy girls who seem so alien to me? How can I keep attraction going all the way to the bedroom? (I know how to escalate and stuff, just I normally practice on humbler girls)I feel like the high school nerd asking out the most popular girl in school.
