All you have to do is start talking. Start talking to the person sitting next to you in class (they're probably as bored as you are), start or get involved in study groups, ask people to spot you in the gym and exchange names, and so on. Once you exchange names, you are acquaintances. From then on you have to start talking about deeper things and no long carry on with the small talk. People who are able to carry out those deep conversations and are able to relate to you go on to become friends, and perhaps close friends.

You're definitely going in the right direction with getting involved with clubs. If you're looking for good friends, go to office hours when midterms start and contribute. You meet some of the most dedicated people and it doesn't hurt your academics.

Strike up conversation with friendly-looking randos by getting to class 15 minutes early. Conversation starters could be opinions on the professor, homework/class-related, etc.

Find a job on campus. It is an opportunity to make money, meet people, and offers more experience.

If you are living on campus, making guy friends and meeting girls should be much easier. If you're not really a gamer, still try it out or watch someone play. It's a good bonding experience.

For partying, it's generally good to make friends with frat guys/soror girls. If you already know about party spots, you may also find that the dedicated people that go to those office hours also tend to want to get loose on the weekend so don't count them out!

Not sure if this also would work for you, but there are clubs/societies for my major that I've joined in which I've met great people who at the very least, are good acquaintances. It is nice to see people you know in class and it's good to have someone you can ask for notes if you skip class one day.

SAY YES. If anyone asks you to do something. Idc if you have a headache or have class at 7 am. One late night won't kill you. You can just take a nap. If you are constantly out late and have a morning class you may need to change a class or stop going out but that is your call.

This is what I did when I first attempted college and I knew no one:

I went to my first class, looked at which guys looked decent, then I sat next to them and just introduced myself. "Hey, I'm John." Then everything happened automatically. My social circle has gotten bigger automatically from that point.
