So I have been going to this volleyball club every Sunday for the last 2 months so that I can socialise and have fun. That's when two weeks ago, I spotted this cute asian girl that i hadn't seen before. (I think she was Filipino?) I was like ok let's ask her out. I wait until the end of the practice cuz i didn't wanna stay around and i couldn't anyways since all the girls went to another court on the other side of the hall.

So after practice finishes I get my phone and i see her and her group of friends standing near the exit door watching adults play basketball. At that moment, i had two choices. Either leave or ask the girl out. And they were right next to each other. In my mind i was like, "Pff, no way im doing that. I don't have to worry about a thing."

And at that moment my legs were like, "Nah mate."

Somehow I found myself walking over and it went like this.

"Excuse me."

Her and her 3 friends turn around.

When she turns around, I look at her face and I'm like wtf. In my mind I'm like, did I get the wrong person? Cause it kinda freaked me out that they look so different to what I had seen earlier. And i highly speculate I may have actually gotten the wrong person lol.

"What's your name?"

She says her name but I immediately forget it cause I'm too busy trying to figure out if it's the right girl as I'm looking at her face.

So then I extend my hand and we shake hands.

"I just came over cause i thought you were very attractive."

(Idk why I was being so formal there💀)

She awkwardly laughs and covers her face with her hand.

"Umm, this is so awkward"

I brush it off while smirking.

"Yeah, I know it's awkward but I don't care. I want your number."

"Ummm, I don't know if I'm supposed to give out my number. What about my Instagram?"

"Nah, I'm good."

And then I leave because i was so nervous. Throughout this whole interaction my body wasn't shaking but my voice was. And my hands were held together in front of me the whole time like really formally. Anyways this was my 4th cold approach and went better than any of my last approaches.

Anyways, getting to the point of the post. I want to ask if it would've been better to ask for her snapchat/Instagram there. Especially since I'm only sixteen years old. And i do want to start a discussion about the possibility of a transition from asking people's numbers to there insta/snaps. Cause i do think that some kind of shift could occur in the next few years.

tl;dr: Should i ask for snap/insta instead of the number because im only sixteen years old?
