Snapchat is my long game. I'll add a girl and completely forget about her until we start checking each other's stories and shit.

Text is for like immediate results and I always feel like I just get the number when I want to immediately start working towards meeting up.

Also, I agree with u/TinyRickGotSchwifty I think u/socialsnapguru's guides are on point.

I think phone numbers are a more personal and private which is easier to establish rapport with than snapchat. She can always have random people on her snapchat so might take it less serious. imagine her boyfriend or dad mom brother and sister talking to her on snapchat? now imagine the same thru phone number. Snapchat doesn't weigh as much.

I am old fashioned, and also drink old fashioned(unrelated) but a phone number is a guarantee that she gets your messages even when she is out of service, eventually it will show up. Snapchat servers are terrible and messages can be lost so if she doesn't respond, you will never know.

I was thrown off when the girl asked me for my Snapchat, thank god I did have one but still... guess this is the norm for undergrads

Currently in a LTR but I always found that when a girl offered her Snapchat as an alternative to a phone number, she was a super flakey type. Everyone is different though so if it works for you, great. Definitely wouldn't bet on getting a date over Snapchat any time soon though.

Phone numbers are for better for calling than texting. Snapchat's pointless imo.
