What’s an appropriate way to start this discussion? Should you start this over like a meal?

This is why I wonder if I'll ever get married. I believe in my value as a man, but I also wonder whether I'll ever find a woman who sees eye to eye to me on this stuff. I want someone who has a career, who wants to take almost every vacation to go to a music festival, aggressively save money so we can retire relatively early and always be secure, and accept the fact that savings goal is going to be slowed by the fact that I'm going to have to help financially support my aging and in poor finances parents. On top of that, she's going to have to accept that I'm politically moderate, which seems to be a bit of a deal-breaker for the more radicalized public these days. Good luck to me, I'm going to have to find my 1 in a million who is like this.

Inre: music festival. I built my marriage on music festivals and then we got old and I wanted to do something more mature with my life. She wanted to continue partying and spending all our money on music festivals. We are divorced now. My recommendation is to not make music festivals the cornerstone of your relationship, you’ll assume you’re compatible but that compatibility is shallow and eventually you’ll have to deal with that...

Fair assessment. Though I will say the reasons I go to music festivals isn't to just party and use drugs, which gets old with age and maturity, but to view great bands and immerse myself in music for 4 days (it's also a good way to see parts of the world as you can piggyback smaller vacations on to the festival, in surrounding areas). Maybe that type of mindset will age better. Couldn't imagine going a year of my life without going to at least two festivals (though I guess I'm handling it ok with Covid cancellations, I just wouldn't want to willingly give it up).

It really is. People will utterly attack you for voting 3rd party, and it's something that definitely narrows down the dating pool. I'm not entirely sure, but I think my ex-girlfriend's friends advised her to break up with me, with politics being one of the big issues (she didn't for that reason), on top of one bad interaction they had with me. I sometimes just wish I was a straight-up liberal to simplify things, but my logical side brain is always going to lean fiscally conservative.

To be honest with y’all, the one is something that Disney made up. “The one” will never exist. Mariage is ok and everything but you really gotta question as a man, what do you gain from mariage ? You pay the ring , honey moon all that and statistically, divorce rates are 50%. Mostly initiated by women. I’m not trying to bash wedding and everything ! I always fanatisiez about being married ! But in this current world we live in , do y’all men believe mariage will bring any sort of benefits ?

The construct of marriage is a very un-natural thing, which is why after a few years, you have to "work on the marriage" to keep it going...
If you want to save yourself a lot of emotional heartache, the easiest way to experience marriage is to pick a girl you really hate, and give her half of your stuff

I thought this was goofy af today. Before marriage? I’ve been dating a girl for 2 months and it’s gonna turn into an ltr. We’ve already talked about most of this stuff.
