Hi seddit. I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, so I figure I should post something. I think I did this as well as I could have, but I'm wondering if I actually did anything AFCish.
Background: I message her Monday on okc and we hit it off and plan a date for the weekend after next. We keep talking through IM, text, and phone and it goes really well, alternating between heavy flirting and deepish personal talk. She's clearly interested, and cancels plans so we can move the date up to this weekend. Score.
Night before the date, she sends me a message saying that things are starting to get serious between her and someone else. She apologizes and says she doesn't think it would be fair for me to make the drive to see her when her thoughts would be elsewhere. I thank her for letting me know, say I had a great time talking to her, and wish her luck.
I feel like I didn't do anything wrong and was probably just a victim of bad timing, but would you have done anything differently? Would you have tried to keep the date? I figure the best think to do at this point is to just be classy, hope that maybe she'll contact me in the future, and move on.
