Again, looking for some validation on this. There's a reason those with anxiety struggle. A lot of anxiety sufferers are also highly sensitive people. However, at some point, even the most socially inept will start to understand this process.
What happens is as follows. You are at a party with a lot available women. Good start right?! You approach like a number of them that you are attracted to or you think is available. A large number of them will reject you. And you don't have to get to the point of rejection. There are a lot of conversation cues that let you know of a potential rejection. Maybe you have a little small talk which she is happy to reciprocate. Her name, why she's there, is she having a good time etc. etc. However, anything beyond that becomes labourious. She clearly doesn't want to sustain the conversation and her attention is elsewhere. She responds with closed answers. You have to prompt her to keep the conversation. She doesn't ask you anything. At this point, it's lost. There is no going back from here. You move on. Sometimes it's better to cut these losses so you don't invest anything more emotionally.
For a below average to average guy, I wager this would be 80-95% (2 in 10 - 1 in 20) of the reactions. It doesn't matter how attractive you think she is or how likely a match you think she might be. If she is not physically and (not or) socially attracted to you... It's a lost. Its very rarely recoverable from this stage. You have to take it on the chin and move on to the next girl. And the process continues.
In the rest of the cases, the girl clearly is attracted to you and finds some potential. In my latest night out, I spotted this. There are those who might be interested. Then you have to move in quick! There's a chance that someone else might intervene. Best thing to do after you sustain a conversation is to probably isolate her. Easiest thing is to offer to buy a drink or "get some air".. And then you proceed. Keep on escalating, ebbing and flowing until its a score or another rejection.
The most important thing about this is numbers and speed. If you only approach a few girls a night your chances are very slim to zero. But if you approach a large number, like 10, you might have a fighting chance. However, you need to read the non-attraction cues very quickly and weed out those who are not interested.
As I said, a lot of anxiety sufferers and sensitive people (HSPs) will find this extremely difficult because some of these heartbreaking rejections can be hard to take. Maybe you think this girl is the right one for you, or you've distantly noticed her for some time before approaching (no stalker but sometimes it takes time!). Maybe she's the only one there you actually like! To then get rejected not once but multiple times in a single night can be hard to swallow. Ngl, I have had a case where my mood was completely killed after one rejection. In order to break through, you have to develop thick skin. Understand it is natural for men to chase and hit on women. Once you see this as a natural thing, and there is no shame in the process, that's a good start as it normalizes the process.
Would like to know what you guys think of this.
