The concept of ‘inner game’ sounds nice. Work on yourself, get your shit together, and women will come.
The problem is, it’s bullshit and it doesn’t work.
That sounds extreme, and I’ll explain exactly what I mean.
But first, it’s worth exploring why we have this concept of inner game.
Prior to 2010-12-ish, guys who were ‘good’ at pick up skidded by on routines and sequences. This worked, to an extent and within a context.
However, these guys encountered two problems. First, they selection of girls was limited, and they couldn’t keep a girl around for long. Secondly, their style of game had very limited marketability and pick up companies needed a way to pre-empt public backlash.
Hence, a nebulous concept of inner game, and “working on yourself,” was born.
Maybe you are saying, “Plow Zedong, what’s wrong with working on yourself? Isn’t that exactly what you should be doing?”
Stated plainly, “working on yourself” is vague and lacks concreteness. Although we intuitiveness sense what self-improvement is (and hence, no one mistakes certain activities - watching TV or playing video games, for example - as self improvement), the terms leaves far too much open for interpretation, and no clear guidance is given as to what self-improvement ought to entail when considered through to lens of success with women. And there’s no accountability.
Everyone can say they’re “working on themselves.” 99% of the time, it’s 100% bullshit.
If we were to offer honest ‘inner game’ advice to the average pump and dump question poster at seddit, it would look something like this:
“Get your shit together, and take action to face any social phobias you have.” “Don’t whine.” “Don’t ever expect other people (anonymous strangers on the internet, nonetheless) to find a solution to your problem.”
That is inner game. Ironically, the same people who are “working on themselves” typically take offense to any blunt criticism or advice. They avoid self responsibility and find reasons they can’t do this or that action.
The other aspect of market-ready “inner game” is ‘mindsets.’
Here’s the thing with mindsets. They need to go with results. That is, they should help you achieve more faster. Secondly, mindsets are sustained by results. An “abundant mindset” is easy to maintain amid abundant prospects. Seeing your own value is a lot easier when others do. So a lot of the “mindsets” promoted by pedestrian men’s dating advice is terrible.
So maybe now you are thinking, ‘Plow Zedong, you’ve totally destroyed my world view. Are you saying I shouldn’t work to improve myself or have a good mindset?’
Don’t be a retard. Who in their right mind would say some shit like that?
I’m saying be more specific and quit making excuses.
Don’t just “improve yourself.” Improve yourself in a specific way which aids in achieving a specific result. In this case, you not merely concerned with “self-development,” but raising your sexual market value (smv). Likewise, learning how to deal with women - 50% of the human race - is part of self-improvement.
In terms of mindsets, the only one that really matters IMO is a growth mindset. But maybe I’m wrong on that.
So, in conclusion, the inner/outer game distinction is somewhat clunky. Because guys these days are such pussies, “improving yourself” has become a toothless and vague phrase.
Improve SMV, learn to talk to women, commit to your own growth.
If that’s “impossible” for you, then shut the fuck up, jack off in the corner, and watch while guys with better game than you fuck all your hot female friends and relatives.
If you are working on yourself, be smart about it and don’t neglect social skills and game. Do everything for a good reason.
