This is a question, and also a semi-field report of getting someone's number through a mutual friend.

There's a girl that showed interest in me during last school year, but I was too sheepish at the time to ask for her number. She was pretty flirty with me and gave me signs like playfully shoving me after I made a joke, always asking me questions about my hobbies and favorite stuff, looking at me and looking away when I made yeye contact, etc.

So this summer, there was a religious holiday. I decided I would wish her happy holidays. However, I got her number from a mutual friend (telling him it was customary for my people to wish our acquaintances a happy holiday, and he seemed totally cool with it).

So I got her number, sent her a three word text and signed off my name. She send me a really enthusiastic reply with a lot of caps, exclamations and smilies, and asked me about my summer.

We texted back and forth for two days, all the while, I did the typical "response delay", kept cool, kept responses brief etc. Her responses were pretty long, and she even mentioned that she missed me. I told her that we can meet up once the school year starts, which she thought was a great idea. I ended the convo after a while.

So my question is, did I come of as a major creeper by getting her number from someone else? Or did it seem like it worked out in the end?
