Today in class (community college) I met a pretty cute girl that I was sitting next to. We started talking and by the end of class we'd had some good laughs. When class was over her best friend was waiting for her outside, and she introduced me. We discovered that we were walking the same way, so the three of us start walking. I'm just trying to keep conversation up, so I ask them if they've ever eaten at the school cafe. They say they're going to eat there today, and I'm welcome to join them, but I decline saying I have to meet up with some friends.

But I didn't have to meet up with any friends. I don't know why I rejected, in my mind I think it was because I felt like they were just being nice inviting me and I didn't want them to pity me, so I made it sound like I was busy. I know, ridiculous, right? I passed up lunch with two cute girls because I'm fucking insane. They even seemed a little disappointed when I said no (one of them did the "pouty" face).

So this is the problem I have I guess: I can't accept the fact that people actually want to hang out with me other than to just be nice. I'm petrified of becoming the third wheel, and it's not just with girls either. Why do I feel this way?
