Just smile, say something like 'alright' or 'nice talking to you' and walk away. You need to appear confident. Confident people don't fear rejection. Accept is as a risk of taking action.

If I were you I'd briefly congratulate myself for giving someone an opportunity to reject me before I accepted defeat.

I had a really bad burn the other night...

Friend wanted me to talk to these girls, so i did. I started with my normal bull shit pick up stuff.. The girl recognized me from high school and I didn't remember her at all... Well her friend was really just in a snotty mood and being very off putting. After talking to the other girl for a little while longer, her friend said "Can you take a hint?"

It was one of the most shattering things I've heard. I said, you guys have a good evening. Walked away. Went to my friends table and told him about what just happened, laughed it off and a girl walked up to me and introduced her self.

Stay in character, keep your confidence... move on. Every moment is a learning experience.

JK, act like nothing happened. There is no "good" way to handle a rejection, you have to just keep it moving.

Definitely give yourself the props for going for what you want. Forget about the actual circumstances and just give yourself a point. Then do it again as soon as possible.
