What's a good balance between maintaining rapport and entering the friend zone through texts?

Make a date, even if its far away, and then stick to it. Unless the girl is already into you, avoid bullshit "checking in" ("Hey, How are you? ;$." "I just wanted to see how you were doing. :=D.") Once you have a date there's not much reason to contact her unless something changes in your plans. Send her a message the day before the date or the day of (depending on how big/serious the event is) to confirm that she know its coming up.

Sometimes going long periods of time without talking can work to your advantage. During the interim period the girls will keep you and the date in the back of her mind. It gives her a chance to think about you from time to time and look forward to seeing you again. It can be pretty great because it's like building rapport for free without any work from you.

A) Have you read LoveSystems' text game eBook? Some seriously good shit in there.

B) If she replies to your texts quickly (<5 minutes), texts you more than once before you reply, or sends ANY emoticony-gay shit, you're in.

C) It's better to say nothing than say the wrong thing. If you get a good little back-and-forth going, don't think that she'll suddenly start not liking you if you don't reply. In fact, if you DO get good banter going, stop on a high point and don't reply for several hours. This will actually get HER wondering if you don't like what she said, and when/if you're going to text back.

D) When you do text back, change the subject. Keep it light, playful (depending on where you are in the relationship - obviously if you're fucking send her dirty shit!). Per the previous point - have a memory like a goldfish - if she sent you something you couldn't or didn't want to answer, just wait a few hours and send something else totally new.

E) IF she presses you on something (aka shit tests), handle it like any other in-set dismissal ("Look, it was cute the first time, but now it's just kinda rude.")
