ofc it's ok if if you have a time-sensitive arrangement (date) and you need to here from her, let's exclude that case from the question.
We've all been there. You're not paying too much attention or write a text reactively, then 30mins later you're kicking yourself and thinking about what you should have said. Sometimes there's an impulse to double text and try do some damage control, but personally I have it drilled into me that this is NEEDY and LOW-VALUE and I shouldn't do it, so I don't.
Is it ever appropriate? Has a double text ever gotten you out of hot water?
I had this exchange earlier that made me consider it. Context: Date planned with this girl for tomorrow morning, I was texting with her Monday night and left her on read, then didn't reply till today.
me: <respond to open thread>, what time are you free tomorrow morning?
her: oh are we still on for that lol Can we do Friday instead?
me: yeah girl, I'll let you know if plans ever change ;) sure, I can do Friday if that suits better
and now I haven't heard from her in a couple hours, I feel like that "I'll let you know" text was a bit demanding and reactive, I should have just said "yeah looking forward to it!"
