Situation: at a small party, talking to this girl who I go to college with but don't talk to very often. We're chilling in the garage cause that's where people are smoking. Both of us are drunk. Most of the people I knew there head somewhere else so I ask the girl if she wants to go sit outside. We walk around to the backyard and sit and talk. It's dark and quiet and we're alone.

She seems really into me, so at one point we look into each others eyes and I kiss her. We keep kissing for a little while half laying on the ground. At one point I'm kissing her neck and whisper "I want you" in a smooth way (pretty sure it was smooth, then again, I had been drinking). We kiss for like 10 more seconds and she kind pulls away for a second and says "no, I can't". She tells me something about how she's been raped before. In the moment I felt like there wasn't much I could say, so I just comforted her since she seemed a bit shook up and took her back in to the party.

I wanted to be assertive but you can't really push it when she's telling me about how she got raped. The thing is, I know this girl gets around and I feel like it might be a front, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Do I still have a chance/how do I approach this in the future?
