Because people “want what they can’t have” and “scarcity creates value”.
It’s a supply and demand thing. I’ve (46M) experienced this many times in my life. It’s human nature. Always has been. Always will be.

Consider the term absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Attraction grows when there is an aura of mystery. A woman wonders what are you up to? Are you talking to someone else?
They get curious which is the key to seduction. They want to know what your deal is.

When do they usually break? I haven’t texted in her two days because I have nothing to say right now.
[–]Therocksays2020 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It depends on the person. I have had girls take two weeks to hit me up randomly.
If you’re secure and have an abundance mentality. You don’t worry about it.
If you have concern you will be forgotten then don’t try to play the wait it out game

After having a stroke, epilepsy along with minor case of anxiety sometimes makes it hard for me. Im not ghosting Its sometimes hard to think what to say.

Dude you should probably focus on yourself if you haven’t.
But just be yourself dude. (That says a lot, but seriously, if she doesn’t like who you are whatever)
You’ve been through a lot, you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. Only share what you’re comfortable with.
Talk about the things you enjoy, she might be willing to share too. Which is usually a good sign.

I guess being raised in a era that we treat everyone as a friend no more. When out with friend one of them picks up your phone and starts texting and saying things with out them knowing. From the responce.that was sent shows whoever wrote it doesn't have a heart if they did its frozen. Bye

Well I wish you luck friend. Be safe

This won't always work with girls who are super secure and have other options available. I believe I'm pretty self-sufficient as a woman and I could like someone who has the same texting style as you mentioned but I won't go after someone who's inconsistent, doesn't try to keep the conversation going. Maybe if you have nothing to say, that's not the best sign anyway. I've never ran out of things to say to my SO while we had just started going out. There's always something. I understand the 'busy' part( I'm a pretty busy person too, academics, work and what not), but just a text after work about how her day was shows you're interested in keeping the conversation going . The talks don't always have to be amazing and deep. A peek into their daily lives gives you more insight into the person than you'd think. Long story short: Everyday conversation should be fun(or nice) if you're thinking of dating the person long-term.

I wouldn't say it works well per se but you will attract a specific type with anxious attachment style. Other types including secure attachment style would have moved on and assume you're playing games or unavailable. That's also why anxious attachment and avoidant attachment styles attract each other but are toxic to each other as they bring out each other's fears and reinforce them.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'd say it works even better for avoidant attachment styles. You have to push/pull like crazy to slip under their B shields, but also avoid tripping their avoidance mechanism.

As a secure woman, I will not entertain men that do not respect me enough to set up regular dates. Doesn’t have to be constant texting, but as long as you make it a point to see me on a regular basis. So, you may be targeting individuals of lower quality with this strategy. If you are just looking for sex, then yes it works on women with anxious attachment styles.
[–]MangoFreshh 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As a secure woman.
Every woman considers herself secure lol.
[–]ankle-slayer 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Bro. I've met very little women that consider themselves secure.
[–]Several_Ad4787 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
bro the girl who ghosted me is now trying hard to reconnect back so not everyone

Your dating sounds like a dentist treatment cycle. It's pretty boring and probably not even true
[–]JB_NSA 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How many times do you set the date up?
[–]chloeouellette -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good question! It’s definitely important to be reciprocal, so around the third date I will initiate or at least become more involved in setting up a date activity. It’s all dependent on if I feel the man is consistently interested and respects my time.
[–]Heavy-Lingonberry473 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hear ya. I appreciate respect and anticipation with a date over fear/ desperation from ghosting. Especially with a busy job and hobbies. It helps if there is a tentative date and then you both flirt/ fantasize/ try to surprise each other with something unexpected and fun.
[–]Attari000 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Second guess, activates insecurities/ anxiety which is thrilling, they then look to get validated with the sex. That's why if they know your interested most likely, they won't be. Unless you have something big to bring to the party, but even then maybe not. Don't expect more, they're primal beings. Don't think it can't be true. Don't think they can't really be like that, they are.
In any case settle down it's better.
[–]Beardomann 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why do you say in any case settle down it's better ? Just curious
[–]Attari000 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because women like real men and that's what real men do. Also don't think you'll come out better in the lust game.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Because most women, even average looking ones, get blasted with at least occasionally with unwanted attention from thristy guys. So it's hard for them to get excited about even more attention. Also, too much attention puts pressure on women to reciprocate, and they haaate that.
If you're aloof, but friendly, you're signaling that you're not thirsty, but you also don't hate them. You're also taking pressure off of girls to be responsible for your feelings. This allows girls who are naturally attracted to you to become even more attracted. It generates an anxiety in them that compels them to close the gap, to get close enough to see how you really feel about them.

Women are biologically programmed to compete for mates... Your indifference triggers this... Biologically they assume the lack of contact means you have selected another mate they go onto crisis mode... And do whatever they have to do to tegain alpha status. They cant help it... Thats why the best way to sleep with a woman is to introduce competition ..every time.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes. Pre-selection is like magic. It's why guys in relationships have an easier time attracting women than guys who are alone.
[–]Dwaynedibley24601 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right its competition... Of someone already eants to mate with you it makes you alpha

Well some of the best things to do is to ask what she's been up to and build conversation off that. Or to share what you did and to ask what she's been up to. Use that as a springboard for conversation. Or ask if there's anything coming up that's exciting.
[–]Altruistic_Dish1932 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Hi!! Sorry to interject. I'm texting a girl thats slightly younger than me. When I speak to her, its like I want to coddle her and keep her safe (though I don't think this is healthy) .I know she's younger than me but every time we try to have a conversation, it feels dry. Not dry as in there's no back and forth but dry as in she can't really come up with anything worth having a conversation about and simply follows along with what I give her in the conversation.
Maybe is lack of experience on both our parts or maybe its a girl thing. I'm being patient and giving her space so I don't seem needy but I honestly don't feel connected or like we match.
Any suggestions?
[–]almost_strange 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Well. Looks like you are not attracted to her. So why to spend time on this?
[–]Altruistic_Dish1932 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I was at first and super excited to get to know her but I guess that's changed
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Why are you spending so much time texting her?
[–]Altruistic_Dish1932 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The unnerving fact that it will be a very long while until I can talk to someone again or even be romantically entangled
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh. So you're needy. That's extremely unattractive. If you need her attention, she's going to smell it from miles away. At that point, you've already lost.
You have to come to terms with the fact that while it's better to be getting romantic attention than it is to be alone, it's also better to be alone than it is to be simpy.
Start lifting. Learn game. Get your self esteem in order. By the time you get it together, you'll have more of an abundance mentality which replaces need for companionship with want. That's a good thing.

Get some books on self- improvement, self-confidence, and start doing weekly therapy calls. My therapy sessions have helped me tons with self-worth and self-confidence and self-care. The girl I go to charges $25/hour and she does teletherapy (over the phone). Lmk if you want her info.
Do a phone call. I find that it's easier to see if there's a connection after a call. Also lets you know if someone has manners (interrupting etc)

THE UNIVERSAL AND MOST POWERFUL FORCE THAT CONNECTS AND EMPOWERS EVERY HUMAN PSYCHE IS RELEVANCY
WHEN OUR FOCUS OR AIMED OBJECTIVE IS THWARTED IGNORED OR FLATLY DISMISSED - WE ARE MADE TO FEEL IRRELEVANT
SADLY, THE MOST TRAUMATIC AND DEVASTATING LOSSES TO PERSEVERE THROUGH IN LIFE IS THE TEMPORARY SENSE OF REJECTION FROM AN ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE SOURCE; LOVE CAN CAUSE INSULT TO OUR CORE RELEVANCE WHEN OUR AFFECTIONS ARE RESPONDED TO WITH A LACK OF MUTUAL INTEREST OR SIMILAR RELEVANCE BY A SOURCE SHOWN A COUNTERED DEGREE OF SIGNIFICANCE.
