Guys of Seddit, help me out here. I've been on a few dates with this guy, who went completely overboard - now 3 times - on the whole trying to impress me thing. It's like in the first 10 minutes into the conversation I will get bombarded by facts such as:

  1. The house he has just bought in an expensive area
  2. How big his car is
  3. His aristocratic family origins
  4. All sorts of other stuff that seems try too hard / fabricated

I don't know why this happens - whether he is that desperate to prove his worth, desperate to get laid, perhaps both, or maybe this works with some women?? I find it a huge turn-off, reeks of desperation. Too bad too, if he was just natural I would like him so much more.

Last time it happened I called him out on it, just playfully, but he has retreated completely. Perhaps sarcasm wasn't the best choice...

Please shed some light on the matter for me!
