Can you do both? I really like it when a guy is both 'manly' and 'loving'. Also what do you mean by loving hard?
And what I mean by both is that I love it when my guy is all masculine and whatever but then turns on the lovey dovey stuff for example when we are alone, just get home, etc. On the other hand if my guy becomes all manly and not loving at all especially in public I just think he's a douche and it won't last.

i think "loving hard" might cross into being needy or clingy.

Being needy or clingy is different from being loving imo. It's not either you're masculine and a stone wall on one end and texting every two seconds and saying i love you every three seconds on the other end. Neediness and clinginess might be something you would want to look into and find options and methods to stop. I really love texting the guy I'm dating during the day/at night and being all loving etc but cannot text all day and spend all of my time with them. Most people need alone time, and that has nothing to do with not wanting to be around you.

This gal gets it. What they mean with "love" and what you mean by "love" are actually opposite things. Love is not neediness, it's the opposite of it.

Maybe you’re not with the right person if you want to love hard.
Everyone loves differently. How does your girlfriend like to be loved?

My boyfriend hugs me all the time, tells me he loves me constantly, showers me with compliments, comes to me when he’s sad or down, sends me long texts to tell me his appreciation for me. He does it all. In my younger years, I’d ignore a man like him. It did weird me out a little bit when a boy was so forward and sensitive with me. But now, I finally realize he’s the most masculine man I’ve ever had. A man that can tune into his relationship and make me feel the most loved is all I’ve ever wanted. Just like how you like to be showered with affection and being told I love you by your s.o., we want to hear it too. Nothing sexier than an honest man who can be sensitive and fully himself.
