Long story short. I got married and it didn’t work out after 7 months, and we divorced religiously and now I wanted to divorce legally. (I’m from California she is from Michigan)

However, I left out of the country and I have been now for a few months. And my uncle send me a picture of a “last attempt” notice that they attempted to serve me with paperwork.

I looked up the lawyer office and it’s from Michigan so they are filing for divorce.

The religious mediator knows I am out of the country and noticed them as she had a few more things I needed to return back.

(I also wanted to add that I wanted to attempt to get back what I had given her money wise. And the religious mediator just mentioned to just let it go just for the sake of finishing the problem. And after I while I agreed and we both signed a contract stating I can’t ask for anything and she couldn’t either.)

With that in mind, I’m not sure if I should contact that attorney via email and let him know I’m out of the country?

Or do i wait until I return after a month or two to get my own attorney?

Or, do I let them advertise in the newspaper that they couldn’t reach me and just let them file for the divorce since we already signed the paper that she can’t ask anything from me and neither can I.

Any help and guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance 🙏
