My ex beat me and his family and friends said it was my fault for going to his house... he's hit me in his car once too. He got arrested the second time and they said it was my fault. Really fucked me up cause I had no support system and actually thought it was my fault and had a concussion. Then said I almost ruined his life. I lost my job after the assault and dropped out of school with a concussion.
He's doing really well and has a career.. it makes me really mad especially when his narrative is I tried ruining it for him. It didn't affect him at all. His parents are part time professors and defended him. He also teaches children hockey and gets to interact with them. It really bothers me that he got the charge dropped. It was very violent the assault and he told me he owned me. I'm getting therapy, but for the longest time, him and everyone in his support system convinced me I deserved it and I enabled him.

Thank you. I never tell anyone because I was so embarrassed and felt so taken advantage of. Thanks for the support, it means a lot. ☺️

I was blamed by most of my family too regarding sexual misconduct. It feels terrible and I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm in your corner.
It astounds me (and appalls me) that sometimes the most well-educated people, people who perhaps read more because they received more education, people who say they value social services to help others in need -- that they can be the same ones who turn on a family member and blame the victim. Don't believe them. I'm glad you are getting help and reaching out for support. It really does a number on one's head and reality when they totally deny and invalidate.

This makes me so mad! I wish you the best! <3

Yeah his parents supported him. This is why all this disgusting people exist. Because their parents are fucking assholes that say yes to everything to their children and give 0 education, morals or manners to their children.

It's sad that the current generation thinks this way (in the place where I am from)

Oof this makes my blood boil. My ex pulled that line out of his ass and my dumbass actually empathized with him. For context, I’m a woman of color, first generation American, and he is a white male with waspy heritage.
When he was threatening to kill me and I went to my management company to get the locks changed on our apartment, they didn’t take me seriously (are you SURE you want to go through with this?) It was then I knew I HAD to end it because despite the fact that he lost two jobs and I was a graduate student in a demanding program, everyone was going to side with him, and I was seen as the stereotypical hysterical woman of color in all this.

This is so relatable.
I just went through something at work that made my blood boil.
I work in technical support. My customers are technical people. Twice in about 3 weeks I’ve had to deal with two of the most rude, condescending, mean people. They are both well known in our organization for being difficult to work with so it’s not just me taking things personally. They are both real problems.
I bring up their behavior to the account manager and my manager and the complaint gets dismissed as “that’s just how they are” or “Yeah, they’re a pain, but super smart” or “they are just blunt” as if it somehow excuses the abuse.
But that’s not the part that makes me mad. What makes me mad is that I have a very direct way of communicating. I am also blunt and to the point. I have had my job threatened on more than one occasion for the way I communicate. I’ve been forced into professional communication classes and therapy to soften my communication style. I was actually fired from my last job for standing up for myself on a project my new manager wanted to trample all over me on. He didn’t like how I talked to him. I’ve spent 14 years of my life being told that direct communication was too harsh and came off off as rude. And yet these men get off Scott-free for much worse behavior with a shrug and “oh well”.
And I know it’s 100% because I’m a woman and they are men and women are supposed to be seen as submissive and apologetic and anything other than that is offensive.

The saving grace to all of this is that I love my company and my coworkers. My previous company, the one I was fired from, was stressful and I was so relieved to be let go. No one I worked with liked me. They were all out for themselves and tattled on literally everything you did.
My new job is fantastic. They go above and beyond to make sure their employees are taken care of. I have yet to be told that I’m being too blunt or rude. In fact, we have a group meeting at the end of my day where everyone just gets together and playfully sass’s each other. It’s the highlight of my day. I get along with everyone much better, including the managers and I’m not expected to temper who I am, because it’s an effective for of communication for me. I’m sure 14 years of communication classes has rubbed off some, but I’m still pretty blunt and direct.
Interestingly enough, that quality has made me the go to person for advice among my friends and family. Because they know I’m going to give them an honest perspective.
Don’t be too hard on yourself for changing. It’s societally expected for us to be submissive and obedient. I’m just hard headed and stubborn, sometimes to my detriment. Probably why I’m single, but I’m not upset at that.
So glad I found a community that encourages strength among women.

It looked like an honest accident on the video, too.

I once lost a job due to false (statutory) rape allegations.
I was 24, working at a very small and unusual high school. A 17 year old boy decided to tell his friends that he had slept with me. One of them told a school counselor, and me and the 17 year old boy were called to the principal's office.
The boy immediately realized that I was in big trouble, and tried to take back what he had said. He ended up crying when he realized that I was going to lose my job.
I was just amazed. I, like most sane adults, had never even thought of a teenager that way. He was my student, I was responsible for his well-being. I wouldn't have taken advantage of a student in that way even if they would have fired me for not doing it.
Well, I got fired that day. Nobody pressed any charges or anything, but I was pretty sure my life was ruined. That was my first job in my career field, and I had lost it on an accusation statutory rape.
I was devasted, broken-hearted, horribly embarrassed. You know what I wasn't? Mad.
The school was absolutely right to let me go on even the slightest hint of sexual misconduct. Their first job must be to protect their students. It wasn't about me, it was about the safety of the children.
This event in my past is why I have zero sympathy with the "but you'll ruin his life" crowd. They are missing the point in a big way.

Red herrings. The people up top knew exactly what they were doing.

My first rejected me for another (after having sex with me of course)--just gets a silent treatment from me.
I Rejected a guy for another not even kissing this person--the guy uses me for sex as revenge and everyone telling me that it was my fault and that i destroyed him.
Still fucking recovering.....

So her life should be ruined over one incident of stealing but rapists and sexual abuse perpetrators can hold the highest seats in some of the most powerful countries and businesses? Oh that’s HELLA embarrassing.... what’s ‘to be fair’ about that exactly??

it's still embarrassing to be doing something illegal and caught on camera doing it. For anybody.
Good thing pedos don't get caught that often then. I mean that would be hella embarrassing for them to end up on TV. Did you SEE that gurl SHOPLIFTING tho???
