Long time reader, first time poster. Also a long time participant at MensLib, but I have grown increasingly concerned by posts and comments there in the last couple of years.

For example, I would like to call attention to this post https://www.reddit.com/r/MensLib/comments/12s3st0/imperfect_victims_civilian_men_vulnerability_and/ and the top level comment from the original poster. They state that "men of any background are more likely to commit violent crime than women. So, if you're a given prime minster, and from a purely hyper-rational analysis, rejecting male refugees is just a smart thing to do for the residents of your country. but the vast majority of male refugees will commit no crime at all, and you'll be saving them from a life of abject misery, potential conscription, and possibly - likely - an early death. Hyperrationality in this case is heartless and cruel to those men."

I find this assumption of "rationality" to be based in anti-immigrant racism. It has been shown, over and over again, that immigrant men are far less likely to commit violent crimes than native born men (see, e.g., https://items.ssrc.org/border-battles/the-myth-of-immigrant-criminality/ - finding that "the lower incarceration rate among immigrants was found in every pan-ethnic category without exception. For instance, native-born Hispanic men were nearly 7 times more likely to be in prison than foreign-born Hispanic men, while the incarceration rate of native-born non-Hispanic white men was almost 3 times higher than that of foreign-born non-Hispanic white men"). In other words, even if we believed a supposed gender-wide disposition to violent crime was an appropriate basis for immigration and refugee policy, the hyperrational approach would still be to admit more male refugees.

So, my question to this group is why do you think some on the left are comfortable trafficking in anti-immigrant stereotypes? Is this a wider problem on the left or just a MensLib problem? Is this a space where Left Wing Male Advocates can distinguish themselves from other branches of progressive thought?
