If you watch the video you can see her catching herself around the "Uh experience of gender based violence"
She ALMOST said the quite part out loudly which is replacing "gender based violence" with "violence against women"

Also, look at how asinine that response is..

"We didn't explore men's experience of violence because we were focused primarily on gender based violence"
So.. are Men / Males not a "Gender" according to her apparently?

Not only that but what an absolute nothing burger of a response..
You can't "Focus on gender based violence" if the only gender you are focusing on is "Women / Female" that's not how it works at all!

This is an organization funded by tax payers to provide FACTUAL information for the government to make policy changes on..
I think its pretty clear by their actions that they have a clear agenda of ensuring that policy changes only reflect their entrenched narrative of "Men are abusers, women are victims"

We really need to pay close attention to this application of the term "gender-based violence". I have seen it suddenly crop up everywhere the last few years, and erasure of male victims is clearly the end to which this terminology has been adopted. As seen also with the way male victims in the UK are being counted in statistics as victims of violence against women.

Sen. Roberts is a rabid right winger, though. In the end, he is co-opting men's issues like anyone else for the sake of his own agenda. Aside from the fact that his mere presence in any advocacy issue is enough to stop most people from taking it seriously, his whole agenda is about protecting traditional family values. His gripe with feminism is in viewing it as an assault on the nuclear family, and this bias is just a useful avenue for him to call their work into question.

Which I think exemplifies something so important in LWMA. We should be trying to table these more comprehensive perspectives, looking at bidirecrionality, shedding the vestiges of traditional gender relations that remain within feminism's biases. That way, whatever resolutions are tabled at committees such as this, the Sen. Roberts of the world will have one less weakness to exploit in our propositions.

ETA: I am just adding to the noise of frustration that people like MR become the figureheads of these issues, which they themselves only view as a means to an end. There's another layer of bias here, where the media is happy to keep them in the spot light, because figures like these (on both sides, really) perpetuate conflict and prevent the kind of reflection that can create change.
