Symbiosis implies a mutual beneficial arrangement typically. Like our good gut bacteria for instance.
[–]TheWaterbear8016 points17 points18 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
In the past, it was a symbiotic relationship. The woman provided offspring to the man and the man protected and provided for the woman and their children. Marxism and the rise of feminism is what changed the relationship to a parasitic one.

Taxes going up are to pay for all the government programs women insist are necessary.
The main detriment of having women in the workforce is that the amount of jobs stayed the same while the workforce doubled. Supply demand dictates that labor is now worth half as much. So the ability for some women to choose to work select fields has led to the requirement that all women work. Men can no longer support a family of 6 on their own anymore.
You add this to the fact that if you ask for a raise you're booted because there's always someone willing to do your job for min wage, hard to support a family of 3 now.
Now that women can work, they want a say in the political sphere. This makes it so that politicians cater to individuals not families. And the cycle perpetuates. Bad news.

Modern women are married to the government. Govt provides for women because they need assistance. But you know, we are all equal. Civilization is on its way out. I'm building up the resources to retire to a quaint cabin in the woods. Enjoy the decline :)

If you look it up, social security is the biggest leech on the government.
Your grandparents and parents are bigger leaches, sucking the government dry than anytbing else.
Because they didn't save for retirement.

The likelihood anyone under the age of 40 to 45 is going to get anything is slim to none these days.
If you're a gen x or younger, you can either expect to work until the day you die, or you had better start saving now, because cost of living is highly unlikely to be cheap by the time you get to your 60s. You need at least 2.5 million to retire at 65, and die by your 80s.
By the time we retire, you'll need at least 10x that, likely, due to incredibly high medical costs, as well as any other expenditures.
Your parents are likely to drain the government before they kill the social security system, and we'll likely be on our own. If they dont, we'll get a fraction of what the greatest generation and baby boomers are receiving, so don't count on it at all.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This.
In the UK, the gov are already making it harder for people to claim benefits (unemployment, sickness, etc). They've been sanctioning people for the most trivial reasons, all to save money.
Social security will last for several years, until it collapses under it's own weight.

Not really how i see it... They're power hungry and want money, so they know that if they pander to women theyll keep both and not have to see the consequences as their families are taken care of privately. Much more beta imo

Mussolini fucked it up by invading Greece, forcing Germany to win it for them and delaying the Russian invasion by five weeks.
The campaign commenced on October 28, 1940, but things did not go well. The Greeks immediately counterattacked, forcing the 530,000 Italian troops back. In March 1941, a subsequent Italian counterattack likewise failed. Embarrassed for his Italian ally, and eager to see the situation settle in the Balkans, Hitler came to the rescue, culminating in the complete defeat of Greece on April 23, 1941.
But the damage was done. Germany was forced to commit troops during a time when it could ill afford to do so. It forced Germany to delay its attack on Russia by five weeks — a precious amount of time that could have precluded the Wehrmacht from having to fight during the Russian winter. Indeed, Hitler was inclined to agree during the last days of the Reich, blaming Mussolini for the delayed attack on Russia, and Germany's subsequent defeat.

Actually higher taxes and less children are caused by a underlining factor which is causing many other effects as well: technology. We live in the mouse utopia, our extinction is assured.

Gotta disagree with this.
Feminism pushed many negative consequences onto us that nobody cared to consider.
Just these three right here explain why we have fewer children, higher taxes and rampant immortality.
Technology made life easier for all of us but making life easier doesn't explain why it also got worse. Technology is the favorite scapegoat for people knowingly undermining our societies.
Much of the money she earns goes to pay daycare lol...just STAY THE FUCK HOME with the crotch-spawn already.

2nd wave feminism would not have been without the birth-control pill and automation making female workers possible because of less strenuous jobs. Technology is making our lives better, the only problem is we human did not evolve for the world we are creating.

Your birth rate/fertility graph is completely wrong. When you look at the history of it, then you see it was declining before women's suffrage movement ever really took hold.
If you do a quick glance at our public national debt(inflation adjusted), you'd also see it began going up mostly after ww2, when the military industrial complex really started to gain traction. As you know, it's mostly men that want a big military, mostly politicians at that, because who cares if they send someone else's kid off to die.
[–]Thatstunk1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
This is what happens when more people become involved in the political theatre. My belief is that the more people you give a voice in politics, the more their problems become everyone else's problems even if that problem only harms a minority of people. Now that they have access to the government, they get comfortable. Their ignorance leads them to believe that money is infinite while it is actually finite. They take no responsibility for their actions, thus they think the government is the medicine for them. So naturally these "underprivileged" groups ask for government programs to solve the problem. However, the national budget can only help to a certain point. Nevertheless, they see the government helping so they say, "wait the government solved the last problem, why not just ask for the government to fix this!" The government starts having to tax people to keep up with the demand: So you start having a never ending cycle of apathetic people who don't realize that they are the PROBLEM. That's too much for a female though, how could "I" be a problem. "I've been told that I am a princess and deserve to be treated like one! I didn't spend that money because I wanted to! It's the corporations fault who trick us! They are run by men! And I can't get a job because the market is sexist!" Notice how none of the blame is on themselves but everything around them. This is why we are at the point we are at IMO, you can agree or disagree.

I think it is the best form of government. But it has a huge drawback which is it becomes too inclusive to the point that it creates a lot of unnecessary problems that could be avoided

A man has to ask himself, "After thousands of years of patriarchy, why and how did women all of a sudden feel that they had such a bad deal?"
In other words, are there other variables that may have caused women to feel so "oppressed" being a wife and a mother?
Could the "emancipation" of women be beneficial to anyone else than the men to whom their married?
Check mate.

I've got some issues with these.
First, the vertical axis of the first chart is terrible. There are no units, and the fertility rate appears to not have its origin at zero. That is a recipe for a misleading chart all around, not that it keeps charts like these off of /r/dataisbeautiful since it has become a political circlejerk.
The second chart itself sans commentary is great. The commentary is not so great, because it seems to cast the issues as some kind of Republican/Democrat thing when there are plenty of examples that go against this (Regan drove up debt, Clinton held it fairly flat, etc).
There are certainly other external factors. The cold war has to be taken into account. The 2007 bailouts need to be taken into account. Sure, you can agree or disagree on whether they were the right policy but they weren't really motivated by the welfare state (maybe some of the causes of 2007 could be considered such, but the only welfare in the bailouts was corporate welfare). For fertility there are certainly other factors such as lowered childhood mortality, though I'm sure suffrage factored into it.
I'm agree that welfare state spending is a huge cost, and that women probably do tend to drive it politically more than men. I just don't think that these particular charts really demonstrate that.
[–]Cristoff13-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There are all sorts of reasons for America's current low fertility. But in the long run I think its necessary. Would anyone like to see America with 1 billion people? 2 billion? 3 billion? More? Even if such numbers were sustainable, they wouldn't be desirable. (Of course immigration is another factor, but fertility is probably the main factor determining population growth in the long run).
