Not a movement, but a phenomenon. The logical reaction to feminism.

Yeah I really like that definition. With what the sub has become during the last year (a festival of angry incel memes), reading that definition help me to remember why I found, liked and adopted the mgtow label 3 years ago
[–]throwaway184728472730 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The answer no that requires action, which would make it a lifestyle. Also if it is your thought process it is very much a philosophy...

I think we could all use a trip to Latin America and Asia to meet some real woman! Eastern Europe also and the stable parts of the Middle East where there isn’t discrimination and hatred towards men like in the US!

Im not working with anyone.
Im a dude who works from home, goes to a 9-5 job, hangs out with friends, works out, meditates, reads, masturbates, takes a good shit and goes to bed.
Where does the movement part come into this lifestyle?

You can literally justify being apart of anything through not doing something if that is the case.
I've been MGTOW my entire life, discovering the philosophy only helped me get over doubts of my lifestyle, it didn't change my lifestyle.
[–]CeleritySteam0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You don't need the name but you do need the no. Saying no is an action.
[–]Patricijaobjectdude0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thing is, I don't say no because there is never an opportunity to do so. It's one thing to actively reject women, it's another where you don't even try or put effort into it.
You might as well say you're part of a movement where people refuse to go sky diving while you don't even bother thinking about it. Hey, you're not doing it tho, so you're part of that movement.
As well as being a part of any other movement that involves not doing something regardless if you're consciously avoiding it or not.

Wouldn't a change or a development be something new?
Are drag queens new? No. Is the mass push/effort to mainstream it and indoctrinate children new? Yes. Like MGTOW, the scope and acceptance is new. Not the act itself.
And frankly I think MGTOW is a far newer concept than drag queens. MGTOW is a direct response to radical feminism. Without it MGTOW wouldn't even need to exist.
[–]EsotericEye2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Who the hell do you think you are? Get off your high horse and stop being so condescending you self-righteous asshole. MGTOW means something different to each and every man. Stop being so unnecessarily pedantic and stop berating others, no one really gives a shit what you think.

no one really gives a shit what you think.
Then why bother responding my overly emotional friend? In the words of Shakespeare: "Methinks thou dost protest too much". No one gave you authority to speak for them. You only speak for yourself, you are wrongly using a logical fallacy called "appealing to authority" which actually weakens your opinion as it appears desperate and contrived. http://www.softschools.com/examples/fallacies/appeal_to_authority_examples/430/ MGTOW is a philosophy not a movement.
I never once said MGTOW is a movement, I said it's something different to each and every man. I personally think it's a philosophy but I wouldn't put someone down just because they disagreed with me. The user I replied to didn't even consider MGTOW a philosophy either so what exactly is your point? Whatever the case, others don't need to be berated just because they think MTGOW is a movement. That's why I replied to that asshole the way I did.
You're really overthinking my comment. It was pretty straightforward and I'm pretty sure most people don't care about the opinions of condescending people who put others down. If you agree with that pretentious moron I replied to, which seems you do, then I feel sorry for you.
Despite what you think, quoting Shakespeare, trying to analyze my comment to find a non-existent "fallacy," and being verbose doesn't make you intelligent. Nice try though. Now go away.
[–]yooshio-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
MGTOW is a philosophy not a movement.
It is neither.
It is based on principles...and not many of them.
A formal philosophy contains categories such as:
...all of the above form a complete thought system.
MGTOW is more like an add-on, or a plugin to a man's already existing philosophy. Men generally already have a philosophy prior to discovering...or grasping...the MGTOW lifestyle.
MGTOW is not a movement.
It’s an individual lifestyle choice.
Feminism is a movement. Gay pride is a movement. They rely heavily on arranged conferences. Public events and loud, organized parades shutting down traffic. Public meetings. Designated representatives and speakers at the United Nations. Gobs of wasteful state funding. A collective army all loudly marching forward toward a common goal...requiring mass subscriptions, and indoctrinating children in public schools. Else it fails.
MGTOW thrives without any of that.
It is the polar opposite of a movement.

It’s more like a trend that is growing due to underlying changes in our society.
The reason I don’t like to refer to it as a movement is because you don’t have to join any group or associate with certain people in order to be MGTOW, in fact you don’t even have to identify as MGTOW.

Just read many of the comments from this thread. You guys sound like a bunch of bickering women on whether it’s a “movement” or a “phenomenon”. Who gives a shit about wording or whether it is one of these two categories. We know what it is as a whole, but some people approach it differently. People arguing on the minutia of every part of MGTOW is like arguing what food tastes the best. Everyone is different, and that’s okay.
The only real thing that matters in importance is that in order to preserve your well-being, happiness, and financial health in today’s misandrist and lopsided world in Western society - is to avoid any serious relationship with a woman.
Also, in this endeavor it helps to avoid making eye contact in public, avoid assisting them when possible, avoid companies that discriminate against men. Know their true nature, reduce temptation, and just GYOW.
That’s all we have to do to NOPE THE FUCK OUT of this clown world, we don’t need to worry about nuances of whether it is a “movement” or a “phenomen”.
[–]Zorrgo1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Depends on the definition. But looking at your rude comments reveals an interesting correlation between your pseudo-intellectual thought process and one of the possible definitions of ‘movement’ as ‘an act of defecation’.

Well yeah, basically. You can do it in your sleep or while jerking off. A movement doesn't actually require you to physically move from point A to point B. Not yet, anyway. But in the future, who knows if men will need to physically flee or not.

I have a theory that women naturally want to be miserable and unhappy.
We simply project our goals and desires onto women.
[–]betterforitall0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not sure I would necessarily agree although I can understand why you see it that way.
I think they want to be happy but they measure their happiness by the standards of their friends and society rather than their circumstances.
Since the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, they are never satisfied.
They look to television and their peers for solutions and begin thinking that total hedonism is the only way to be happy. Then they begin lowering their moral standards so they can justify behaving badly.
[–]malerevolution29 points30 points31 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I've never been married but I can relate. My mother did that to everyone in the family. She'd act like she was OK with something, then sabotage it and make all sorts of excuses to defend herself for doing so. One of the many things that contributed to my confirmed bachelorhood.
[–]deathtocontrollers8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Jealousy is one of women's most dominant emotions. So if she didn't have anything to gain but others did, that would make her feel like shit and then she'd rather have nobody gain anything. If there is any kind of plan, any woman who knows about it, must be placated with a reward. So basically, if you don't want women, sabotaging your shit, they have to gain something from it.
[–]Profitglutton3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
My mom seemed to be much the same way. That’s why I preferred being around my dad when I was younger. But I find it easier to minimize her seriousness and make jokes about everything when around her. At times I make her laugh so hard she has her drinks bursting out of her nose. That way I don’t have to be annoyed by the things she says.
[–]malerevolution2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My dad often supported her for some reason, so that didn't work for me. I never understood it at all. Of course, my sister was the favorite and part of my job was to keep her happy, something I refused to do. I think he realized later in life that my sister was getting too many free passes but by then it was too late, the damage was done.
When I finished college, it took time for me to find a job and I found one in another city. When I was packing to move, my mother went and hid in a back room all day while Dad and I loaded the truck. She was upset because she wanted me to move to where my sister was so we could get an apartment together because she needed my support while she was in medical school. My dad's position was "go where the work is." When we got me moved he said to me "don't worry about your mother." He was complicit in my mother's nonsense, but later realized it had gone too far, but it was too late to do much about it.
I've managed to do OK on my own, have had my ups and downs, but once I decided to go solo and be a confirmed bachelor, I did much better for myself.

MGTOW is not a movement. It is an idea. An idea that has been around for thousands of years, but is channeled more through MGTOW ideals and philosophy.
We aren't trying to change anything. We don't care if society changes its laws or not. We don't care if all women tomorrow decided to swear off feminism. MGTOW is about the individual. If anyone is looking for a movement go to MRA.

Had my father in law say this in front of a group at dinner. He was mentioning the “happy wife, happy life” bullshit.
I said it was unfair for one party to have that much control and that a “happy team is living the dream”. Any man who allows their partner to have control over their happiness is to be gotten rid of immediately.
For those who are married or in relationships, never let a woman do this to you. You should never have to ask to do your hobbies.
[–]WaywardStag8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's hard not to. Women learn which buttons to push when they want to upset you. Most of the women I've had relationships with figured out how to do it some time before I broke up with them. If I had kids with any of them I probably would have stayed and ended up a miserable old man.
[–]thefudmaster1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Very true. However, One can simply say no to these demands and suffer the consequences.
[–]WaywardStag2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
"Happy wife happy life" became a widely used saying for a reason. If a woman is unhappy she will go out of her way to cause misery to everyone around her. They're bloody good at it too. Men can blow up and get angry and yell in the moment, but women will punish you for years.
[–]thefudmaster4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They surely can. I highly recommend Paul Elam’s new book “Men, Women, and Relationships”. In it, the premise is that a mans mental health is directly correlated to his ability to say no to a woman.
I’ve spent many a day in the “dog house” in relationships because I told my female partners “no”. I’ve declined many an invite to baby showers and wedding showers. I hate that stuff and let my partners know that ahead of time.
I’m not trying to sound like some sort of badass either. It’s all about reclaiming your self respect and building an equal footing in all of your relationships.
[–]WaywardStag1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I said no a lot in my last two relationships (5 and 6 years), but less at the beginning of them and more towards the end. Maybe it works better when you do it from the start and create a baseline, but for me although it was great for my mental health it was bad for the relationships. We ended up largely leading separate lives. I'm happiest MGTOW, but I think the ideal is not having to say no because you want to do the same things. Good luck finding that unicorn though....
[–]shakethenuttree_21 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In it, the premise is that a mans mental health is directly correlated to his ability to say no to a woman.
That's exactly what I figured out by myself aswell.
I lead myself 100%, which means I also de facto lead the relationship. I am always prepared to let them go at any moment. I know the outcome if women start getting to egocentric, so I rather show them the door early on, so they'll know what's up. They know I'll do it. And I have done it. They may have the pussy, but I have the relationship. I make demands, and have the last word. Other than that they can do what they want. But I don't do any drama. It's actually a good deal for them aswell. They feel much more feminine and at peace this way, because they know that you aren't weak.

What's unfathomable to me is that married men had to have seen this growing up. Either their mothers treating their fathers like this, or by direct experience themselves.
And still they get married.

AWALT. I learned, it's not good to look happy in front of women. It triggers them. It's like being put in a prison because you are seen as horrible criminal and you being happy. A woman is going to think, you aren't being punished enough for being born with XY instead of XX. You can look happy only when the women around you are happy.

I've seen this forum arguing about how to define MGTOW before, people claiming it is not a movement, philosophy, etc. Logically, since we are all going our own way, each individual definition is right. You define what MGTOW means to you, not others, not this forum, not the YouTube and BitChute performers. I won't tell you what it means to me unless you ask, but I will be happy to show you how to walk your own path.
[–]RedCBR9001 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
it has a set of rules so it's simply a doctrine. No one ever comes up with this word because not many people declare following doctrines nowaday.
[–]Jadenshade1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
These rules vary from person to person. The internal argument seems silly to me, detracting from the fact that these stories, ideas, etc. create personal freedom.
I am tired of seeing people arguing about how to classify it, because it is insulting to our fellow man, as if to say, "I know you are too stupid to figure it out on your own, so listen to me, because I know better." It is insulting and shows the speaker to still be a weak co-dependent person who requires group approval for self confidence.
