That was one of my biggest dating discoveries as a teen. I had come off a couple gf's I liked and finally gave up and let one that had been into me for a while take up the GF slot. It was totally different going from pretty bluepilled, friendly, "good boyfriend" dating to "eh, deal with it. I don't care." dating. You get VERY different treatment if they can feel on edge about being replaceable.
The new girl was trying to dig into some emotional depth with a "come on, I want you to open up to me." it was like seeing the tide come back in with "nah, that's not the kind of thing I'm going into with you. " Ever since it never failed to just brush all that digging off. By the time I dated the last girl it was essentially a short term escort contract without money switching hands. The only time I would open up now would be to someone going through similar difficulties if it could help them through.

I didn't experience anything like this, but I confided in my wife how much I missed my uncle who just died. I cried a little (which was the first time she had seen me in our 15 years if marriage).
