I'm not really sure how to feel about this story. Odd kid, for sure, but I'm not particularly sure I'd want him coming over to my house. Granted, I would have tried to at least entertain his conversation for the time I happened to be at the park, but he did seem fairly odd (assuming that the facts are as the woman said, and not simply "one side of the story").

The fact that she is a parent herself but doesn't know how to talk to a 14 year old kid is appalling and completely unacceptable. The fact that she was sitting there in complete fear, sending out passive aggressive signals at a boy, hoping that he was emotionally developed enough to get her hint, is enough for me to question the entire basis of her story. I have seen women react in a similar fashion to completely innocent encounters one times too many. I feel sorry for her 2 year old daughter who will grow up traumatized by her mother's psychosis. There's just no telling how much damage a woman like that could do to a child.

We are talking about a boy who is practically her next-door neighbor, maybe a couple houses away. She should have asked him his name, the name of his school, and his mother's phone number, and perhaps gotten to know them a little better instead of speculating about how he must be an axe murderer. This kid could have gotten seriously hurt if he walked up to the wrong person asking them to help him on his car project. His behavior might be the kind of thing that's getting him into fights at school and maybe all the adults around him don't really have a clue. It really sounds like his own family has it rough, with a blind father and a working mother, and he just wanders around outside not really knowing what to do with himself. This is the sort of thing where adults should step up to be adults. It's just stunning to me that they respond by talking about macing him and calling the cops to take care of the situation. What about working as a community to help raise the neighborhood kids into socially adept individuals?

Sorry but if one of the first things a stranger asks me when I'm alone at a park at night with my 3 year old child, is if they can come over to my house and what kind of car I have, I would smile and say "Thanks but no thanks" all the while calculating how fast I can grab my kid and get behind locked doors. That goes regardless of gender.

Reminds me of the post a few days ago about the victim mentality amongst womens groups. Like saying 'I'm so scared that he maybe could overpower me' and so much shit in the comments, basically calling him a potential rapist/pedophile and definitely a physical threat. Nothing in his behaviour suggests anything aggressive, at all. Sure he certainly sounds awkward, but look at all these grown women getting so frightened over a couple harmless interactions with a socially awkward 14 year old. Pathetic.
