Without her, the murder would not have happened. Physically killing someone and setting up a murder or attending to the murder and enabling someone to commit murder is not any better morally or ethically. The fact that our law allows this, or gives shorter sentences to those to are accomplices in murder is incredibly daunting.

She is no hero nor an oppressed woman, the exact opposite.

People supporting this are saying that revenge is an acceptable thing to do, even if it's means murder. But if people want to support revenge for things like damage to mental health, prolonged abuse and torture or rape - then they would also have to believe that any crime or act justifies revenge because you cannot randomly go picking and choosing what validated it which does not work because the law exists for a reason, and "revenge" would be out of control, ie, everybody has done something to somebody and we would all have to die because of it.

If anything, she is responsible for slowly encouraging a person on the internet who may or may not have been vulnerable to commit a heinous crime. Instead of taking responsibility for her own situation in life, or murdering her mother herself, she led a man to do it and set up the murder. A scapegoat, if you would like.

I was abused as a child. I was forced to do things I didn't want to or to suffer in silence in an enmeshed, toxic and abusive household and for far longer than Gypsy Rose did, but even I, would never set up the own murder of my mother.

Children who have quite literally been held hostages in their own homes by their parents and kept there since the day they were born, starved, beaten and suffered do not set up the murders of their parents.

She is not safe to be out in the world.

I assume you're familiar with the Manson family murders? Big surprise: a little while back they paroled the female who took just as much part in the torturing and murdering as the others. The men continue to be denied parole repeatedly; as they should, but letting her out is nothing short of a total perversion of justice. Not that I'm remotely surprised by it, mind you.

It is sort of amazing to compare Gypsy Rose to Jonatha. Majors.

GR experienced lots of trauma, so the public generally understands and sympathizes with her, despite planning the murder of her abuser. I wonder why she didn't just leave with her boyfriend.

JM was found guilty of accidentally harming his abuser while in the act of attempting to flee her active physical abuse. The public thinks he is a monster.

I live where this happened and all over my Facebook are posts about how she’s a hero. Like, she killed someone. How is this idealized? And if it’s okay to murder someone who treated you bad, at what line is it not okay to murder someone out of revenge? Not to mention her mother was mentally ill and probably just needed help. Now she never can cause she was murdered and her life stolen.

There’s hundreds of other options she had other than murder her own mother

I’m so confused by the whole media circus surrounding her. I didn’t even know who she was and articles kept popping about her press interviews. I thought she was a singer or something. The whole story is sad but it is beyond bizarre that she’s been cast as some hero by the media.
