The gender wage gap one is the most prevalent and to me, the most easily debunked. It baffles me that even after explaining to feminists that the 23 cent gap is the disparity between the average income of all full-time working women and all full-time working men, and doesn't account for difference in career, choice of major, time taken off, and wage negotiations, they still parrot the "statistic".

I went through the list first, and wondered how Time published such a neutral article. I scrolled to locate the author. CHS. That explains everything. Still, kudos to Time for having her on.

Telling that no one going against the article has a leg to stand on. At least in the comments I read.

One person said CH Sommers "claimed that there is no such thing as sex slave trade". These people are insane.

And then there's always the idiots saying shit like this;

My concern with this article is that it potentially minimizes the reality of actual issues that do persist and need our collective attention.

It's like they don't even read what Sommers is saying. God forbid you want resource management to be better, and for issues to be tackled in realistic terms.

You can't solve a problem treating it like it's bigger than it is. We act like we live in a rape culture, so we become extremely restrictive, we strip people of due process, and create a whole host of other issues by tackling the problem incorrectly.

Rape happens, but it's not an epidemic. People die in car accidents too, but should we start to claim that by 2020, 7 billion people will die in a car accident? Should we funnel all our resources there? No.

Our "solutions" to overblown problems aren't solving the actual problem. They're solving an imaginary problem and they're creating more problems.

That's why we have to actually have real stats to address. So we can address it properly and as best as we can. And then we also don't waste finite resources, and can solve even more real problems.

I still get this surreal feeling reading this stuff on Time. That place has never been the same (in a good way) ever since they voted feminism the most abominable word of the year or something.

Christina Hoff Sommers is great, but are there any other female researchers/popularizers doing similar work? If CHS were to suddenly die I imagine there would be quite a void.
