Everything here was supposed to disappear. Banned subreddits, deleted communities, cancelled blogs — much of what is archived here survives nowhere else.

It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

I pay for the servers, the storage and the bandwidth myself. If you want this record still standing in ten years, become one of the people who keeps it online.

So wonderful to be enlightened by a woman about what it means to be a man. I just couldn't have worked it out on my own. /s

I got the same impression. She tried, but even in her own text admitted that women don't understand masculine ethos.

This is a wonderful article. Sure, there were some (read: many) oversights in it, but it is progress nevertheless. It it something to congratulate the writer on, but we must keep pushing for social change.

To understand better this asymmetry, we need to look more closely at the relative value we place on masculinity and femininity.

Of course, the author comes to the conclusion that the reason men feel the need to perform and thus choose higher paying, higher sacrifice careers is because we love them too much; whereas the reason women are freer to prioritize personal factors in employment is because we hate them.

You see, masculine value must be constantly demonstrated through performance because it's valued more than femininity.

This is what people in the 21st Century actually believe. This is what passes as compassion for men in this era.

It isn't that we "love" them too much so much as they are too valuable, isn't it. If we convince a person (whatever their gender or demographic) that their achievement and contribution is the basis on their value, they will continue to achieve and contribute, lessing the burden on the beneficiary.

Because men – and especially white, professional men – occupy a uniquely privileged place in society, Nathan is reluctant to discuss his feelings openly.

Lol. Stopped reading there.

Profiling sucks. As a white professional male, I get tired of hearing about "my privilege" too. Sentence should have read, "Because men who have worked hard and succeeded, are perceived to have been handed their success rather than earned it, Nathan is reluctant to discuss his feelings openly."

Same with me. Stopped right there.

With Affirmative Action and 'Equal Opportunity Employment' and other less official initiatives to promote everyone else over white, professional men, I cannot stand to read beyond those obviously bullshit words.

I don't see how you can judge a whole book by one page. if we are to solve problems for men and women and gender difficulties in general being reluctant because of small quirks I see why problems are here in the first place.

You stopped too early. I can clearly tell she agrees written the statement but honestly it could just as easily have been that he felt that this narrative, more than the reality, silenced him.
