While plenty of shelters for women existed, the only publicly funded services available for men were for anger management. “As a victim, I was re-victimized by having these services telling me that I wasn’t a victim, but I was a perpetrator,” Silverman told the National Post.

[–]str8nobull 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Conveniently the feelings of rage one naturally feels from being gaslit would make one eligible for anger management

[–]Cyb3rd31ic_Citiz3n 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup - "The symptom proves the cause", effect before cause.

[–]PenDownWriting 33 points34 points35 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Bruh, what the actual fuck... and yet I see HUNDREDS for women everywhere. It’s ridiculous.

[–]Coolshirt4 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Because society sees women as uniquely vulnerable and men as uniquely dangerous.

This was certainly true in the past, but with force multipliers like guns, abuse has to happen along emotional lines, where there is not gendered advantage.

I think that given enough time and effort, we can shift these ideas.

[–]PenDownWriting 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True! :)

[–]Demonarke 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

While men tend to be more physically abusive towards women, women are more mentally abusive towards men (since they can't compete on the physical side) they use underhanded tactics to get what they want, such as gaslighting which is ironically said to be a man thing while from what I've seen most gaslighting attempts are made by women.

[–]Coolshirt4 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So first of all, woman have traditionally been economically dependant on men, meaning they have a really hard time getting away from an abusive relationship.

Secondly, people don't take emotional abuse as seriously as they should, even for women. Unlike physical abuse, the scars are hard to see.

[–]FinallyReborn 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

To be exact, only 0.3% of domestic violence shelters are for men in the US, despite them being 40-70% of total victims, systemic misandry is very real.

[–]PenDownWriting 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, it’s so fucked up. Here in Sweden, I see ads EVERYWHERE saying “Oh, if you’re a woman and your husband beat you, come here! You can sleep and eat blah blah”. But for men, as I can recall in the last few years, I’ve only seen 1 ad like that, and it’s just so glaringly obvious that society just doesn’t care about you men, it’s sickening.

[–]Coolshirt4 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that misogyny and misandry in our society are rooted in the same thing.

We see women as prizes and men as tools.

Society tells men that they are only valuable as their usefulness, and women that they can't be useful.

Society tells women that their feelings are the only way to interact with something, while it tells men that they don't have feelings.

It's not a zero sum game, and I think gender equality needs to be fought for from both sides.

[–]YourFavouriteGuy 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is feminist theory

[–]UiGogeta05 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is fucked up. I get scared when I’m around people now because I feel like I can’t make jokes or say anything without being called a manipulative bastard. This story proves that society has no qualms in helping men with their problems, atleast right now they don’t. I hope that changed in the future

[–]Wildhouse83 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

A man can avoid the majority of his problems in life, simply by avoiding women.

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link

That’s not a very healthy mindset, though. Radfems say this shit all the time. "Men are the source of women’s problems, avoid them, bla bla". How about we don’t try to avoid half of the population?

[–]JzxGamer 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes it is, but you misunderstood. I believe what they meant is to avoid them in certain circumstances, primarily ones that if something goes wrong, the man will be more negatively affected than the woman. Moreover though, this sub is about men’s rights so the lens through which this is viewed is one where a man would face possible LEGAL risks for which there is simply no parallel for women.

[–]Moronic-Simpleton -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What would those circumstances be? I’ve heard some people say we should stop having hookups to avoid false accusations or that we shouldn’t get married but that seems kind of extreme to me.

[–]JzxGamer 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The most common ones are relationships, marriage and yes, random hookups, but given that ridiculous, blanket views like “believe women” are the standard now a days, any situation could become a problem for a man who is the target of lies by women. Women have more or less free reign in these areas to do whatever they want and with impunity. It’s fine that you think that’s extreme, doesn’t make the facts surrounding the amount of risk men take when getting involved with women any less true.

[–]Wildhouse83 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

The difference is, women can not survive without men. But women are just a luxury, or in other words, a liability for men. As soon as realistic sexbots and artificial wombs are available, no more women needed anymore.

[–]LateralThinker13 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Which is why those will be illegal when they come out. Why do you think women fight porn and male contraceptives so much?

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What makes you think they would be illegal? Only a few feminists are fighting against porn, and no one is fighting against male contraceptives, and there are already realistic sexbots being sold.

[–]LateralThinker13 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Feminists in favor of porn/sex work are so uncommon, they have their own category - "Sex-positive" Feminist. As in, the default position of feminism is sex-negative.

That's why most feminist orgs work against legalizing sex work and anything involved with porn or prostitution. My body, my choice, but only when it's a feminist-approved use.

Also, it's easy to find articles like these:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6730555/Swedish-feminists-demand-ban-sex-robots-dehumanise-women-just-like-pornography.html

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think the fact that pornography is still a huge and wildly popular industry and legal in most developed countries proves that feminists don’t always get what they want (not to mention that countries that ban it do it for conservative and religious reasons). They’re going to receive a massive pushback from the majority of adults that watch porn. I think people are starting to realize they’re crazy, so I highly doubt your predictions are accurate. I promise to eat my left shoe if I’m wrong.

I’ve also haven’t seen many feminists push back against the male contraceptive pill, and I think the majority of women would be glad.

[–]LateralThinker13 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lemme clarify - I think they'll TRY to make them illegal. As you say, porn is hugely popular and its advocates, creators, and consumers have a lot of money, both illicit and legal. That doesn't stop the feminists from trying to socially restrict it (and like the morons they are, they always conflate criminal trafficking, enslavement, and pedophilia with all the legal, consensual stuff).

Just look at how many localities have banned or restricted the presence of sex shops. You don't have to make things illegal to effectively ban them (see: trying to carry a gun in NY).

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, yeah, I agree with that. I don’t think they want to ban it because they think it would make women obsolete, though. I think they just like to demonize male sexuality and see sexualizing women as inherently violent.

Also, I really don’t think artificial wombs and sexbots would make women suddenly useless, just like making robots that do all the hard work and military fighting wouldn’t make men obsolete, either.

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The mindset isn’t toxic because women need men, it’s toxic because both genders are people and we shouldn’t hate or avoid the opposite sex. We should not want to avoid half the population because of a few bad apples.

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Feminists are "a few bad apples"?

That was the most naive statement I have read in a long time.

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I meant women as a whole. I don’t think most women are terrible. Most of them aren’t even feminists.

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

For me, it doesn't count for much that they don't call themselves feminists. Women who don't actively fight feminism and its dark and unjust agenda are essentially enablers and accomplices. Especially because they happily accept all the unfair advantages feminism gives them (from affirmative action on) without a second's hesitation. I have respect only for woman MRAs.

Just my view, could be wrong.

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How would a woman know if she is being hired because of affirmative action or because she actually deserves the job? A lot of those privileges are well hidden. Should they assume every interviewer is going to take affirmative action and tell them not to do it? Would that work?

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How about women demanding to just end affirmative action, once and for all? That would work for me.

[–]sPrAze_Beast 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I saw this on another subreddit and screen shot it to other platforms

[–]b0n3rsauce 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I've seen multiple shelters dedicated to helping men in abusive scenarios

[–]Moronic-Simpleton 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That’s good to hear! In what area do you live?

[–]b0n3rsauce 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I live in Canada, this isn't the 90s anymore...

[–]fds2034[S] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Canada is a good country. No fucked up society like America or Poland which I live in

[–]b0n3rsauce 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Poland is ranked as one of the safest countries...

[–]b0n3rsauce 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not many foreigners realize that Canada and the US are essentially the same country.

[–]afroschlan 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Domestic abuse shelters?

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not in the US.

Here's that male privilege at play again!
