Often people say more is spent on women's healthcare than men's healthcare, but how much more? In this post I hope to show that in one regard: Cancer Research.
First, the incidence of cancer by sex.
Notice that on the first page for overall values the peak in females is below the lowest value for males over the same time period. The peak for the population overall is barely above the low point for males.
It is only after adjusting for age that female incidence seems higher to about equal, but considering the age gap. There are .75 males for every 1 female over 65, and for over 75 there are 7,226,441 men to 11,288,114 women which is .64:1 and the median age of 35.8:38.5 overall.
Next, the funding for various types of cancer and incidence of various types of cancer by sex as well as race.
So to start off let's address the various cancers unique or virtually unique to each sex. Yes men get breast cancer but let's be real: It's less than 1% of cases and they don't get the same screening or treatment anyways. So we have breast, prostate, penile, vaginal, uterine, cervical, ovarian and testicular cancer. There is also epididymal cancer but is it quite rare.

Now this is just some preliminary research. I'm well aware that not all of these cancers are equally deadly, and I plan on parsing the cancers not unique/virtually unique by incidence and death, and hopefully also assess cancer screening/treatments as well.
