The entrenched nature of the kind of thinking that supports involuntary male circumcision is not only anathema to me but utterly inconceivable from a medical and logical perspective. The only thing that people point to is an absurdly outdated and poorly conducted study that showed a *BARELY* statistically significant increase in HIV infection in Africa - a virtual hotbed of HIV at the time of the study.

I honestly believe that the reason this practice persists has to do with western mothers not liking the appearance of uncut penises and them being the ones that are handed the paperwork to sign regarding circumcision while they're still semi-delirious from giving birth. The medical/scientific community that doesn't fear repercussion from hypersensitive anti-turtleneckers (e.g. western mothers) just won't speak up on this matter because it's a "men's health" issue and such issues are deprioritized globally in funding. Their paymasters will tell them to stick to women's health issues or kindly find other funding.

Further, if the Pope spoke up about involuntary male circumcision, likening it to genital mutilation, a badrillion asswipes would jump all over him for stepping out of his "religion" lane and into the "science" lane.

Anyway, I'm probably not telling you guys anything you didn't know... I just felt the need to bitch and/or commiserate and/or just get it off my chest.

Any non medically necessary modification of the genitalia of an individual unable to give informed consent for such a modification should be illegal.

Period point blank. This is only controversial for absolutely insane people and pedophilic sadists. And we generally consider it to be a form of torture to cut off part of someones genitals.

It’s not difficult to do - keep knives away from penises, testicles, labias, vaginas, and all other genitals. If you need me to tell you this, you are a seriously demented person who needs serious help.
