This is why it's so dangerous to be in a toxic relationship where your partner tells you that you can't hang out with your friends. There are additional studies you can find that talk about how important bromance is for men but there is no equivalent with women.

Women deal with emotions by sharing. Just look at social media, or pay attention next time your SO comes home and starts talking about her day. That's how they cope.

Men cope by rough-housing, shit-talking, grabbing a beer with the boys, letting off steam, or having hobbies. We don't need to share our feelings, we share our actions with other guys or engross ourselves in fixing/building things.

And yet despite this difference, women will often try to take two things away from you in a relationship: your friends and your hobbies, because they think you love them less if you have them. Yet they are the main two things we use to cope. It's incredibly toxic and damaging not only to men, but to the health of the relationship itself.

I think with the advent of more equal parenting men and boys will be able to maintain their own personal relationships. This is happening to me. I fought for and won 50/50. We divorced when he was 9 months and my ex didn't want me in his life.

He's 25 and I'm getting older. I suppose I'll move near him soon and will not be isolated. I have a son. Currently I spend half my time taking care of my elderly mom. My sister doesn't have the time. It's a gender bender to my mom. When she passes away I'll move.

One thing I'd really like to find out is if isolation or negative social experiences have more harmful impact on people. Victims of negative social experiences tend to get way more concern and empathy than people that live through isolation and I'm not sure that that makes sense. I've seen a lot more people that have been physically and sexually abused that have had very successful lives than people that have gone through very harsh isolation especially during childhood. I sort of wonder if this is another example of gynocentrism where isolation is given less concern because it impacts men more than women.

Normal, men are a threat to society and are bad for woman. That's why we get unfairly treated like this for some bad apples out there who are bad but no one cares.

When boys and men are constantly belittled on a regular basis for so much as breathing, engagement is futile.

Maybe they should start recognizing that self-preservation is the name of the game now.

Let society either fix itself or lie in the bed they messed up.
