We've had a very old fashioned relationship since the beginning and have always found that our sex lives have always been the most fulfilling when we hear our close friends problems. I think, when we have set roles in our marriage, it allows everything to fall into place.

He is the breadwinner, father, boss (our term for captain) and protector. My job is supplemental income provider (niceties like trips and home decor etc), nurturer and mother. We don't fight ever, literally because we laid down the rules and roles of our household early on and gasp agreed mutually on everything.

Our sex life is very fulfilling because we both agreed that sex is literally the glue that holds a relationship together. That's what makes our marriage different from all other relationships with family and friends, we are connected on an intimate primal level. He takes full control in the bedroom and I love every second of it. It's raw passion and pure love. Even if I don't "feel like it" I still submit to him, because at the end of it I am always happy.

I look at it this way, some days my husband doesn't feel like working, or cutting the grass, or doing maintenance on our vehicles, but he does it. In order to have something working properly, effort and time has to be put into it. And in a marriage, sex is the time and effort. But it's such a fun way to spend your effort and time :)

Uh, yeah. I'm with Harley. Don't be a nag and don't turn him down. If the sex is getting boring, put on too much eyeliner and some thing uncomfortable before bed.

Is the quote supposed to relate to your question on more than just a level of relating to sex at all, or did you just put it there because you liked it? We may have a different interpretation of it.

Our sex life is definitely better than it was. I stopped turning him down, but either some damage was done when I used to, or we were still in the honeymoon stage before and now he's gone back to his baseline sex drive. I was becoming really depressed about the lack of sex in our marriage and how I had to initiate every single time, but unfortunately I inadvertently hurt his feelings when I brought up the issue. That took us a couple of steps back, but I've noticed lately that he's started initiating more and is regaining the enthusiasm that he once had, slowly but surely. Not only does it increase relationship satisfaction, but it also has a great impact on my life overall. I feel less stressed and overall happier.

As far as things I've done to get things going again, I started putting more effort consistently into my appearance. I used to be all or nothing - either I'm in sweatpants and a ponytail or in full makeup and a dress with heels. Now even if it's just a lounging day I make sure to wear yoga pants or something else that's comfy but still shows off the features he likes (butt and hips), and I at least fill in my brows and put on some mascara. I focus more on house work and making the home a relaxing place for him, make sure he never runs out of clean clothes, make his lunches, and basically just keep his to do list as short as I can. I'm not perfect, but worlds ahead of where I was.

Single gal here, can't exactly contribute to this, but I agree with the statements!

Feminists [Pit beards & leg beards] are so loud and obnoxious because they desire somebody more strong willed than they are in order to "reign them in" so to speak. Unfortunately, most of them are completely un-approachable and will never get to experience the awesomeness that is a RP relationship.

I can say that in my previous relationships, it wasn't exactly divided between male/female and that made me extremely unhappy. Yay for self improvement & new beginnings!
