I'm a fan of this subreddit. I joined (using a different name) when the number of users totalled less than 100. I also started browsing reddit over five years ago. having said that, it's become increasingly clear to me that reddit is utterly useless as a source of anything other than a barometer of the average college-aged American liberal's perspective. there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but this subreddit sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of it all. even after unsubscribing from all of the default subreddits, leaving only my personal interests (architecture, urbanplanning, webdev, and a few others), I'm pretty tired of the low quality of content and comments on this site. what say you?

food for thought: maybe it's impossible to build and maintain a social network / news aggregator that doesn't ultimately regress into politically correct nonsense and/or beta feels without making it explicitly misogynistic from the start. facebook, twitter, reddit ... they're all women's domains. reddit in particular is perfect for shaming; all you have to do is downvote whatever hurts your feelings and upvote what doesn't ... rinse and repeat until all you're left with is a full page of feel-good cliches at the expense of legit advice.
