"to the woman in Vox’s recent post lamenting that her 59 year old friend was only offered half a sandwich by a recent date."
sigh What, did she think she was still 19?
"For a man who is managing the risks of courtship outlined above, the age of a woman is very important. The older a woman is, the more likely it is that she is very picky and/or not seriously looking for a husband. Older women also are less attractive from a courtship perspective because they have used up more of their most attractive/fertile years, and while their attractiveness for marriage has declined their expectations for courtship have only increased. In short, the older a woman gets the worse a bet she becomes (on average) when it comes to courting her."
^ Thankyou.

From a classical economics standpoint, markets are rational because it's agents seek for the best possible strategies. However, behavioral economics comes to rescue and point out the fact that markets are comprised of irrational people.
That is: "the older a woman is, the more likely it is that she is picky"
If markets were rational, older women should be less picky, as their SMV/MMV are not increasing. In economics terms, they should reduce prices in order to drive up demand. But they do the exact opposite, because of their inflated sense of entitlement.
This is like increasing the price of a poorly-selling product so consumers think it is a good product (because it is expensive now).
A VW Beatle is not becoming a Ferrari just because you put a giant price tag on it.
[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're right. It's quite an irrational market. Older women are more picky, yet they don't have the leverage to justify it. Younger women are not only better looking but less demanding.

Works for Apple often enough
[–]Mr_Bell 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But at least Apple gives good design in return. 35yo women are not a better design compared to 25yo models.
[–]3trplurker 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Apple's have good aesthetics and a minimalist interface, the hardware end engineered system is actually quite cheap and underwhelming. The design concept is known as freedom from choice where the goal is to reduce the consumers choice related stress to the minimal possible. Since people have herd mentality's you can ascertain the decision that most consumers would do under a specific set of circumstances and then have that decision preemptively made for them. Since you control the product you can control the circumstances that most consumers would be under.
Prior to Apple most device interfaces were designed by engineers with the goal of providing the consumer maximum power / choice which then creates stress as people become afraid of making the wrong choice. Apple use's graphics artists and other non-engineer folks to design it's interface, the less choices presented to the consumer the better.
tldr; People don't want to think about what they do, they just want it "to work". Apple's made a mint off this mindset.

Raquel Welch is 73 - just because she likely still has solid SMV doesn't mean all 73 year olds do.

Come on fellow red pillocks. Deep down we all know that the vast majority of these women are still going to find their beta bucks on their terms. Thirsty, desperate men who live for a woman's validation aren't going away any time soon. There isn't going to be any Schadenfreude type of moments.
That's why the red pill is bitter, especially if you are/were a Beta Bucks. That's why you need to either become the Alpha Fucks or a lifelong bachelor. But don't delude yourself into a false sense of comfort.
[–]Party_Liquor 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You're right of course, but I want to believe.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Believe, my friend. Believe
[–]Redpillc0re 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You make it sound as if it is not possible to change this situation. Given a critical mass of beta men who actively refuse to cave to their beta-ness (with the help and enlightenment of their redpill brothers, of course), societal attitudes will change. It's a matter of timing, and i believe we are already experiencing this sweeping change.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't believe that it is possible because there will always be weak men who are slaves to the pussy and will willingly beg for scraps, that's actually a large part of red pill philosophy. We're not here to become SJWs we're here to learn how to deal with the hand we've been dealt by our society.

[–]TheeRyanGrey 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link
But it has having effect, magazine's aimed at women are starting to ask the question:
Why aren't guys marrying us?
They're starting to take notice because this shit's starting to hurt. Now, they're still rationalizing because, well, that's what women do, but they're noticing which means it's taking effect.

[–]TheeRyanGrey 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
again, women will find a way to rationalize anything, but what have I said about women's time and energy? They only spend it on things that affect them, everything else is greeted with apathy.
The mere fact that more and more media outlets are acknowledging it is proof that it is taking effect.
[–]rule_of_law 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think it is taking effect, and i hope, for Western Society's sake, that it continues and increases exponentially. I hope that men stop marrying en masse, and that these generations serve as an example to younger women.
Basically this is a society wide shit test, where women are trying to see just how much shit they can get away with before men stop being the provider...
[–]TheeRyanGrey 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Feminism as a gigantic shit test. That's brilliant!
[–]Lord_Perseus[S] 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
True the tide is turning but it's still very early days but it's always nice to see women are feeling the effects. Enjoy the schadenfreude
[–]TheeRyanGrey 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
I keep saying the tide is coming. Word is spreading.
Maybe not quickly but in a way, that's ok, building slowly ensures that nothing is lost along the way. By the time the red pill movement becomes full fledged women will not have had time to prepare for it. There will not be a gigantic explosion, merely the faint gasp as they realize it is too late.
We will be like Rorshach, standing above the wreckage of the world, and as they shout, "marry us!" we will whisper back, "no".
[–]Lord_Perseus[S] 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I like to think of it as if women are trapped in a burning building that they themselves lit on fire due to them buying into the feminist designed life script they've lived their lives by & men stopping to look at this, them begging us to save them from the flawed life choices they were all too happy to make at the time & men all too happy themselves to just keep on walking by leaving those ladies to their fates.

Men aren't signing up for the Titanic Tax anymore; When the ship goes down we're getting our seats unless you can take it from us.
women better learn to lap up or they better learn to swim
[–]muuh-gnu 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
From their POV, a better strategy is to have a number of white knights around to simply force other men into submission.
Men aren't signing up for the Titanic Tax anymore;
I'm not sure that men at large voluntarily signed up for the Titanic Tax on the Titanic either.
On the HMS Birkenhead, where the famous quote "Women and children first" originates from, the men were ordered at gunpoint to stay on ship in order to not endanger the lifesaving of the women and the children.
Even on the Titanic, women and children first wasnt a result from an unspoken consensus among the men, but ordered from the top down by the captain and enforced by the crew.
In order to get out alive out of such an situation, you have to eliminate the white knights first.
[–]TRP VanguardVZPurp 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Turn white knights red.
[–]TheeRyanGrey 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
women don't want to marry white knights, that's the reason these articles are even popping up right now.
we're already past the phase where they tried that. the divorce rates and sheer amount of cheating they had to do sent them looking for answers.
[–]muuh-gnu 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
and as they shout, "marry us!" we will whisper back, "no".
And then they'll vote for even more socialism and collectively marry Big Daddy Goverment. And Big Daddy will make you pay for the consequences of their bad choices either directly through allimony and child support or indirectly through welfare.
As long as the grasshoppers can democratically force the ants to help them, they will abuse the system as much as they can.
[–]TheeRyanGrey 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And still there is nothing they can do to make me marry her and/or love her and that's their end game.
We will come to war before we come to that and any actual altercation is the last thing women want.

And there's also basic supply and demand. Having more unmarried women increases supply and drive prices down. So men spend less on courting because there are more available women at the market place.
[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The article is great but it misses one very obvious thing, men are simply more sexually attracted to younger women because they retain youth which is equivocal to higher beauty.
Also don't forget to report all the stupid bp commenters in here, they get reported enough they'll be banned from the sub. Then when they come back on their latest throwaway to spy/lurk they'll think twice before posting shit.

I just had a date with a 32 year-old 6/10. She didn't even make a move to help pay.
So it cost me $60. Am I pissed? Nope. I've already moved on.
[–]jeebusthecat 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Why didn't you ask her to pay? If you've already lost, it can't possibly get worse by being "rude."
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I honestly didn't care enough to ask her. Her SMV is jack squat as she is 32 and looking aged. The dinner and drinks weren't that expensive.
I don't frame my relations with women as a "Vs." situation. If you approach situations like this, you will have a bad time as you will interpret her actions in a certain light.
When you have a hammer, every problem can look like a nail.
[–]jeebusthecat 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Many I'm just vindictive or a cheap bastard, but I see this as solid "win" for her; "meh, he's not my type. Might as well get a free dinner."
I would rather have $30 in my pocket to spend on something I want. I think whether you like it or not, dating with that sort of woman is a competitive situation. Many women are trying to extract time, money, and validation from men--not trying to determine if there's potential for a meaningful relationship.
By spending money on an ungrateful woman, you reinforce the idea that you're not valuable.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If it happens once, shame on her. Twice? Shame on me.
I totally understand where you are coming from though. I am like that at times. But, I told myself that I just can't hold onto it like that. I just get pissed and it isn't worth my time.
Look at it long-term, she got a free meal. That's it. And maybe she does it to other guys too. But that isn't my fault. The only thing I can control is that it doesn't happen again and I don't sweat it.
Too commonly, I think TRP followers play a zero sum game and its completely about maximizing your benefits while minimizing costs. I do that too but its certainly not a philosophy you should live your life by. Because if you lose, you get jaded.
I think of it as a sniff test that she simply didn't pass. This is about me and what I want, not her and the handout she didn't do anything for.
[–]jeebusthecat 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Still, I don't get why you would go on lots of failed dates and continue to shell out money knowing full well it's gone to waste. If anything, it's reinforcing bad behavior. Women need to learn that they're not entitled to other people's money.
But that's just it. If I go on a date, pay for her, and nothing comes of it, I lose; I'm the sucker, the beta bucks. However, if I go on a shitty date, cut it short, and pay my half, I don't consider myself to have lost. It's more experience.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I understand where you are coming from. I do.
However, I never said that I go on lots of failed dates and shell out tons of cash. I believe I said that "I move on." When you are fishing in a stream and a fish is able to take off the bait without biting the hook, do you get furious at the fish? Does that make you any less of a fisherman?
If you go on a date, you pay, and nothing comes of it? How do you lose? You can perceive it as a loss, if you want to do that then by all means, do that. But you never know man. Let's just say that happens and you lose communication with that girl only for her to drunk text you several weeks later. Its happened to me.
There's more than one way to be alpha. Having patience in addition to giving zero fucks has reaped wonders for me.
You're only a beta if you actively do this over and over again and you are ok with it. You obviously aren't ok with it meaning you aren't a beta. You want to be an alpha? Rise above the perception of the "zero sum game."
