I LOL'd. Actually, someone makes this comment in that thread:

It's interesting that while women change as they age men seem to maintain their preference. At least in my experience and that of the people around me, the guy that like the cute blonde with the athletic body in high school, still turns his head when a cute blond with an athletic body walks by in his 40's.

My acceptable age range actually skews younger than it did before. Before, I was willing to date women in their late 30s - not so much now.

[–]The_CEO_of_Beta 41 points42 points43 points 12 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

After she left me, my sister and mother kept trying to tell me, "there's nothing wrong with being a nice guy, trust us, we raised you right. The problem wasn't you, the problem was her. They just haven't learned to appreciate nice guys yet, so what you should do is date older women who are 30+ years old."

I said in the back of my mind, "Gee, thanks, thanks for raising me to be lonely the entirety of my teens and 20s. Now that I've worked so fucking hard on trying to being the perfect nice guy, I'm finally allowed to date women who no one else wants to date. Excellent."

Them "revealing" that shit to me was a stab in the chest. It's the equivalent of them saying, "our extremely ineffective techniques to getting a girl to like you works after all, you just had to go after old women." and saying, "our extremely shitty kungfu maneuvers really worked after all, see? You just gotta fight only little kids that can't fight back."

They raise them as the kind of man they want to be friends. One who will cater to their wants because they're the mother and that's what their relationship with them will be. They don't want to see their son as the kind of man they have had sexually desires for.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Is there proof around that? Seems like it could be a very sound explanation.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No clue about proof, I'm just saying what makes sense to me. It would explain why single mothers have raised a generation of beta males. Women are incapable of teaching a masculinity that creates successful males. Only men can teach men to be men.

[–]Idontlikekarmawhores 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I m living walking proof of that =(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same here.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn. I have little doubt a real study on that would produce the same explanation.

[–]2johnnight -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

This is very important. Women raise their sons to be able to peacefully interact with other people. They do not want you to get in trouble with the law.

The only problem is that the model of interaction they know is "women-women". They raise you to be a girl that has no conflict with other girls.

The male model of interaction is to threaten violence, bump heads and divide territory.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure peace is really the goal. I think they want kids that give them the least amount of trouble/inconvenience. Mostly, they raise kids to avoid the kinds of conflict they themselves aren't good at handling or aren't comfortable dealing with(because when they're young the mother is the one who will have to resolve it for them). However, the types of conflict the mother is good at/liked to deal with will be encouraged by giving the child the skills needed to handle those conflicts. The mother might even get excited if she's good at "winning".

In a broader sense, a mother teaches her son the coping skills, communication skills, mental tools, social skills and behaviors that she has, ones that she learned to deal with her life. But he will have a very different life from her so it's not only a disservice to him, but it's quite harmful.

The boy is left with a skill set that is completely inadequate to resolving many of the conflicts he will have in his life. He is left without useful guidance for feelings, desires and wants that the mother has never had. So he doesn't know what to do, using the skill set he does have will possibly leave him in a worse state than he started. It's really sad to see and I feel for those men. Hell, I'm one of them.

This is why feminism is bad for society. My mother raised me to be a feminist too, constantly telling me I must respect women while simultaneously berating men at every chance.

She wanted me to be the type of man her hamster idolized as she believed all men where disgusting pigs but I was going to be a good boy.

Yea, completely fucked me up, depression, anxiety. Then she tells me it's my fault and kicks me out..

I don't blame her, she didn't know she was being fed lies.

[–]2johnnight 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

No, they really want it. Only it's that they want it from a strong asshole. That is the paradox.

They want an asshole, who is exclusively nice to them. They do not get the fact that it was the asshole part, that created the initial attraction.

My guess is that they met this one alpha asshole in their life who was rude to them. They got attracted to him, but did not get the soft caring behavior from him. And now they are trying to raise you the way they wanted that guy to treat them.

The only problem is that they do not understand that they are raising you to be an unattractive beta nice guy, who will not generate any initial attraction tingles. Maybe that is because their love for you is a given. They already love you as their child, nothing will change that and they want the people they love to be nice to them.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea man, they want to be special. Being strong means you need to have the ability to be an asshole at times. That's just how it works. You've got to be able to ignore other people's feelings and do whats best for yourself, capable and willing to endure the consequences. That's what confidence is about, having the courage to act for your own benefit.

Women want a man who can be an asshole but only if it's on behalf of them and never at their expense. They want to be special, he can be an asshole to everyone else, but never to her. It's that insidious "bad boy", the desire for dangerous, rebellious men who, once they learn how special she is, will treat her different. It's such a common female fantasy it's laughable.

But like you say, they don't understand the nature of the attraction in the first place. So they fuck it up by turning him into a beta.

For mothers, yeah, the love is a given, the specialness is already confirmed. Further though, the mother has no desire to be sexually attracted her sons. So she will avoid teaching them how to be sexually desirable. They love a son for very different reasons than they do a partner and they mold the son to cater to their own selfish needs instead of doing whats best for him.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

women have male children so they can mouth off and in general be a bitch when they hit the wall, as a general rule men stop fawning over them and doing their bidding post-wall that's why they need someone to fight for them and do things, hence the son.

Its why they really want to date tall men these days, they want the strongest protector available.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh lord yes, those women try as best they can to raise their son to be their own champion. Mama's boys.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

cause it ain't her job to make her son an alpha

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Opioidus 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sad story man, women go in full damage control once they see a nice guys destroyed, it's the only time they betray the sisterhood for a beta male, I think somewhere deep in their subconscious they feel threatened that the beta will finally wake up. ''she didn't deserve you'', ''she doesn't know what she's missing'', ''you're a great guy'', ''any woman will be lucky to be with you'', ''she's the problem'', ''she's just insecure''...

[–]redpill_ta 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Maybe not post-wall but it's funny how every single story is the same:

When i was in my teens and early 20s I wanted top alpha, now that I'm in my mid 20s and can feel the wall approaching I would love a beta provider, provided he still has a little alpha sprinkled on top.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It takes one type of man to live a fun and exciting life and another kind of man to live a boring, stable domestic life with. Different skill sets for different lives.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]dvrzero 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah hence divorce rates And this damn sub telling men to get off the couch and thereby have their wife/whatever desire them again.

[–]big_dick_tom 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Women laughed at me when I was in high school. I was awkward and had acne. They largely ignored me in college, with a few exceptions. I'm a 24 year old virgin now. The idea of anyone liking me now, because I have an engineering degree and a good occupation, is truly nauseating. I can't stand it. Honestly, I'd much rather be alone.

I caught some girl eyeballing me in the store yesterday; she smiled and looked away when we locked eyes. Some guys would probably try to start a conversation. I'm reminded of the time I was given a fake phone number, or the girl who said she couldn't date me because of my skin. It's so off-putting, it makes me want to gag. Women were treating me like scum while choking down Tyrone's dick just a few years ago; now I'm expected (by family and friends) to welcome them into my life with open arms. In fact, I'm expected to work to get their approval.

Maybe I have a testosterone deficiency, but I don't crave sex enough to make that kind of pardon. I'd rather blow my kneecap out with a hammer.

[–]PlusGoody 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dude you are taking this too personally. It ain't about you. Women are attracted to what they perceive as status. You had no status in appearance or reality, now perhaps you do.

This doesn't mean you need to date a reformed slut. They are easy to identify and even if you can't a 24 year old will have 5-7 years of Facebook you can research to be sure.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cheer up man, it sounds like you have a pretty nice life. Don't go spoiling that now by dwelling on the past.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As long as you know you're nit interested at all.

Personally I need to try something before I know if I like it or not and getting affection from women (both sexual and otherwise) is quite nice, as long you realise it can disappear at any second.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

PN'D and get over it.

its generally harder to be attracted to girls in their mid 20s after knowing them for a while than to girls in highschool not knowing them at all and filling the blanks.

[–]PlusGoody 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't know. They are describing attraction, not willingness to settle. And it's pretty consistent: they are attracted to status. What looks high status to a teenager isn't what looks high status to a 27 year old. A smart chubby arrogant dude has no status when he's a 17-year-old debate captain or first chair trombone in the concert band but when he's 27 and has a Harvard MBA all of a sudden that arrogance is beguiling and his gut is a manly affectation.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And yet, a woman will marry that dude, and still cheat on him with a jobless loser on a motorcycle.

I'm 25 and I think the biggest change is I am looking for more stability. Are they responsible with their money? Do they have goals in life?

.

But once I turned 24 (I swear, like, right on my birthday), suddenly I wanted men. Tall, broader-shouldered, scruffy, older. Holding down "real" jobs.

.

Now the first thing I look for is emotional stability, kindness and intelligence, as well as someone who is ambitious and will push me to follow my own aspirations. I am drawn to much quieter, more thoughtful people, both in friendships and romantic relationships.

.

Smarts is always sexy. But I've broadened my understanding of "smarts."

.

Now I am 25, jaded and realize that the music industry is crap. I have a stable industry job, but hate going to small shows with all of the snakes and sharks that are on the prowl. Tried online dating and found myself a nice lawyer who is stable, clean cut and trustworthy, and we are both growing into our adult lives nicely together.

[–]redpillshadow 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

25, 24, 25 - wall victims? really?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the age a lot of their friends begin to get married. They see this and realize they should probably hop off the carousel.

It's actually a smart move on their part. They got to ride the carousel for a while, and still posssess enough youth to lock down a decent enough man.

The ones who are in trouble are those who ride it all the way to 30, they get what's left which are only the pathetic beta's.

[–]semigod__ -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

not wall, but 25 is definitely too old to be considered LTR material. theyre probably still quite attractive, but by that age their character has been written into stone and they're unable to pair bond properly.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, they're already getting concerned with it based on how men have been treating them. Basically, the quality men are already disappearing and they're still getting pumped and dumped by alpha's playing the field.

[–]1FloranHunter 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My conjecture is that smart women realize at 24-26 that they will hit the wall soon so they need to marry ASAP. Stupid women hit the wall first.

[–]RebootedMale 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They see their older spinster aunts who once thought they could wait until their 30s to get their LTR and offspring and now some of the new generation is starting to realize the wall is real.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like the guys most of them explain they want in their mid 20s are true alphas.. Not beta providers. The guys they talk about when they're younger sound beta as fuck. Soft boyish scrawny boys. With the exception of the tattooists and guys in bands.

The guys they want later in life are big, strong, dominant, ability to lead and provide etc.. Common true masculine traits.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It was moving on from James Deen to Manuel Ferrara.

That girl's a real catch. Both are porn stars.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Another gem :

I'm 35 and a single mother. When I was younger, I dated almost exclusively white, except for one black kid I dated when I was 15. Now I almost always date outside my race. The white men my age tend to go for women in their twenties who don't have children. The white men that do approach me are typically older than what I want to date and I'm not attracted to them. Black men care less about the fact that I have a child already. And I can date a black man my own age and who is both successful and attractive.

[–]heist_of_saint_graft 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

TL;DR: Bitch gots a BIG ol' ass.

[–]2johnnight 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, I'm almost 25. And compared to when I was a bit younger, I've noticed a sharp U-turn in the appearance that I find most attractive.

Even still at 22-23, I was going for more "boyish" men. More slight in stature, clean-shaven face, minimal body hair. Cute. Nearly always a year or two younger than me.

But once I turned 24 (I swear, like, right on my birthday), suddenly I wanted men. Tall, broader-shouldered, scruffy, older. Holding down "real" jobs.

I'm still not entirely sure why this happened, and so suddenly.

So for those of us that don't wanna google male porn stars, you went from Joseph Gordon Levitt to Hugh Jackman?

Oh, no no no. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will always have a place in my pants heart. Maybe a better comparison would be ... Elijah Wood to Hugh Jackman?

This one is really simple to explain. Teenage girls go for the esthetic, face feature prettiness. Pretty boy without the muscles. Frodo, Legolas.

Once they mature and their brains are flushed with a high dose of hormones, they go for the hairy muscular man beast. Wolverine, Patrik Baboumian.

This is the part where the girl cheats on her pretty boyfriend when she meets some older construction worker and everybody is baffled why. I guess this could also explain why Miranda Kerr left pretty face Orlando Bloom for that billionaire ugly guy. (That and the money.)

Their attraction cues are fluid with time.

Edit: This is highly important. If you are the bf, who gets dumped once she turns 24, you will be devastated and you will ask yourself what is wrong with you. There is nothing wrong with you. It's her brain that got flushed with psychedelics and changed her attraction cues.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
