(Will add flair when not on mobile) I've been meaning to post this story for a bit, but haven't really gotten around to it. Many of you have probably experienced something similar.

A little over a year ago I got sober, this was before I found TRP but it laid the ground work.Right before I got sober I caused a drunken debacle at my sisters wedding (blacked out, woke up in the hospital with almost a .4 bac, wasn't good). Since I've been sober I've been improving myself and earning my own self-respect back. I work full-time, earn my own keep, work out when I can, read when I can, and of course, study/read TRP. The pill was swallowed not long after I got sober. The difference between myself when I was drinking and smoking compared to me now is night and day.

Anyway mid-july I find out about a concert that was for this past Saturday (one of my favorite artists). Got my tickets shortly thereafter and was ready for it. About a week after I get a call from mom telling me that my step sisters wedding is in late july yet I wasn't invited to the wedding BUT I was invited to their reception that was the same night as the concert...and she expects me to look nice for it. BP me would have bit the bullet on the money for the tickets and gone to a reception where clearly people didn't want me because "family" and all that shit (even though this same "family" didn't want me at the wedding).

At this point, I was 11 months sober and very steadily improving myself (physically and mentally) and I told that woman No. I'm going to the concert. I've got more respect for myself than that. So then come the shit tests....

Early stages of TRP I held on to this idea that somehow my mother was different, she's not. And guess what? Neither is yours. They're woman. I'm not saying that angrily as what's there to be angry at? You don't get angry for someone behaving exactly as they're supposed to.

First test: "People will be able to see you, they've been asking about you so you can show them" she said.

--"If they're that interested, they can hit me up and we'll go out for coffee or a lunch"

Second test: "I'll be really disappointed if you don't come"

-"Ok" (the simple ok seemed to drive her crazy because it meant she no longer had power over me like she did in my blue pill days)

After her trying to rationalize everything (like offering to give me money for the ticket) I just stopped her and told her (like you would a child) "This isn't a discussion. This isn't up for debate. I'm going to go to the concert"

She then tried to get my sister to convince me to go and that last all of about 30 seconds before I told her as well, this isn't a debate and this isn't a group decision.

About half a week later my new bed arrived (express shipped) for my recent birthday that she "just never got around to". All because I held frame.

TL; DR: Even family won't want you to become an alpha....until you're an alpha. Also, your mother's/sisters/whatever are just other women.
