If the money for the work is good who gives a fuck who's watching.
[–]Huskimbo94 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
On me. Sack up and finish what you started.
Do the work .Get the check and a reference and scram.

I'd be willing to bet money if he finished the work she'd try to reconcile. If he's worried about her "winning", he could use this to shut her down for good. He'd probably feel better about it all around.
Edits: bet and shut.

I've read the majority of the sidebar the fascination of how much it makes sense looking back at my failed LTR is astounding.
I think this happens to everyone who picks up The Red Pill, it certainly happened to me, the more i read, the more i noticed my mistakes on past relationships.
[–]Dextorian[S] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
It's unbelievable how much it all makes sense, to begin with, i was subconsciously doing most of what people talk about in TRP, because i wasn't that invested in the relationship and i wasn't really bothered. But i got severe Onetis and well i hit the downward slope, lesson learned!
[–]Pitchfork51 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. I don't get the anger phase.
When your chick left you because she needed to find her self or some similar nonsense it was because you got lazy, fat, and weren't the same person that she originally was head over heels for.
Anyone with half a brain can look back and be like yeah...Makes sense.
[–]Dextorian[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Im hardly angry, more disappointed in myself, it wasnt i became lazy or fat. I work a manual job as well as juggle the gym and sports and always have been conscious of appearance. My downfall was just sheer beta tendencies the relationship flatlined. Lesson learnt onwards and upwards as they say.
[–]Pitchfork51 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I was just agreeing not saying that you are in the anger phase
[–]Dextorian[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh my bad, yeah I see your point though! See a lot of anger towards women when they are really the ones to blame for the LTR being a shitty leader
[–]Merwebb0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Anger phase is mostly at ourselves. Or st least thats my case. Knowing what to do but ignoring myself for so long.

First part, you won't like:
wished I'd of picked
I would of, is a nonsensical statement, you meant to say, "have"; 'would have' would've. There is no such thing as would of.
Looks like the repair for her parents was a covert contract. Don't do covert contacts. Were you doing it for free? If so, fuck them for using your obviously valuable male talents for free. Were you being paid? If so, was it reasonable? If so, and you need money, do the repairs.
I thought there was an obvious link to covert contracts on the sidebar, can't see it, might be cause mobile. Hopefully someone will link.
[–]Dextorian[S] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I was being paid for the work I wouldn't work for free! I only want to do the work for the benefit of her parents not her! But she will be there when I do do the work! It was a good amount and who couldn't do with out a bit of extra money here and there!
[–]TheRedStoic6 points7 points8 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To u/throwingmyslfoutther I gotcha fam.
A covert contract is one which is never overtly given. In other words, believing in and expecting the Disney narrative for example, is a covert contract, unless at some point you make clear your expectations. Nice guy syndrome is already immensely covert. "I do x for her and she'll do y for me" doesn't work if both parties aren't on the same page, and is usually very presumptive, not at all transparent in your intentions. It's both a function of delusional expectation and lack of transparency. Practically speaking, it's having blunt and recognizable boundaries.
Tldr. Transparent expectations form overt knowledge. An overt contract is then agreed to by both parties agreeing to said overt expectations. Anything else is covert. To be fair, you need enough experience to tell when the agreement is solid explicitly vs implicitly.

Nothing on covert contracts in the sidebar. Maybe one of the top posts.

Yes. It's the link for the No More Mr. NICE Guy pdf. On the sidebar. There is a really good chapter on covert contracts.

I wouldnt do the schedulled work. I'd call her parents as clients and explain that I'm not able to deliver for private reasons. If there is a signed agreement, pay the penalty and move on. If there is nothing on paper and it was all "a favor", just walk.
[–]Dextorian[S] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Already done this contacted them, they told me not to worry and they understand the situation.
[–]PurpleDrank88 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would not do the work at all. At the end of the day, why were you really going to do the work? You were going to do the work because you thought it would make your GF happy. Sure, you might have also thought that you liked her parents and it would be a nice thing to do to help them out, but at the end of the day your PRIMARY REASON for doing it was to please your GF.
She's no longer your GF, so your primary reason for doing the work no longer exists. You're not her bitch, you don't owe her or her parents anything. Don't give a fuck and move on from it.

LTR of a year ended it last night / I get home to my phone being blown up. I'm meant to be doing work on the house for her parents
You were in REALLY deep if she expects to dump you and have you continue to work for her parents.
I feel like a bad person because I agreed to do the work and now the situation has changed.
The only thing to feel bad about is agreeing to do the work in the first place. Perhaps drop them a line saying "no longer appropriate to help you out since X dumped me".
In future - do nothing for other people, and ESPECIALLY do nothing for friends of friends, family of friends or friends of family. You never even see them again, they won't even know to thank you.
You don't need a reason to say no. You don't need to sacrifice yourself for other people.
I feel like if i do the work she wins either way. W
Oh don't do the work. Shouldn't have even agreed to do it while in the relationship. Alpha males do not sacrifice for women, only betas do that. Stay selfish - it's weirdly attractive to women. You'll get there with this, and hugely freeing when you realise that the less you pay and the less you invest and the less you commit the more attractive you are.

Very wise words. Thank you! I was in deep more deep then I could imagine. It's funny how she ended it but still insisted I do the work and when I said no! Well the face was a picture. I get home to message after message not once referring to the relationship but just about the work. I hit no contact instantly and removed her from every social platform!
I messed up I was a shit leader and a beta buck. Learnt from this mistake.
I contacted the parents and told them I wasn't doing it. They understood.

I once had a girl behave so badly that I left our shared house that very night, ended things between us, walked out and didn't go back. Went to stay with a friend's. Found my own place shortly after.
The following week after I moved out, she texts me wanting me to be at the house to help out with something she needed done - just expecting me to turn up and help despite her previous behaviour and the fact I walked out.
The entitlement, solipsism and downright stupidity with these women is startling sometimes. I was never beta bucks, but I was generally helpful with things that needed done. She completely expected that this would continue despite her shitty behaviour that caused me to leave.
Well done on contacting her parents. Amazing that even they understand whereas this girl doesn't.

What the hell did she do to make you just get up and go???
It's mental how they think that you still are going to bend over for them, I was an idiot and i see it now 4 days after we split i laughed at myself for how much of an idiot i actually was! Never again
Very understanding people still want to stay in touch had more of an impression on them then my Ex.

Let's just say there is a line that... when crossed... has no return. She crossed it. I didn't return.
She ... like yours... is full of entitlement and implied obligation. For months I tried to get her to understand that if she behaved worse than my other options I would take those other options.
She'd start her ranting, I'd just say "ok, this isn't fun" and leave. And this would happen repeatedly. And she'd just get more entitled, more irrational, more demanding, less pleasant to be around. So I'd be around less.
She couldn't learn to behave any differently. She just fixated on my behaviour being the problem (leaving because she's being shitty) rather than trying to behave better.
She was shocked when I left. Like ... angry, disbelieving, etc.
But she just couldn't fundamentally accept that she was the problem. Zero responsibility for herself or behaviour. My pointing out that she was being rude and obnoxious just resulted in "I don't think I'm particularly rude".
I wasn't "negotiating attraction" or "talking it out" or anything like that. I was communicating in a way that women can understand: "I don't like this, I am leaving" and then leaving.
Any rational person would understand what's going on, but her denial and fundamental belief that everything was my fault overrode all thought processes.
Eventually.. .as I say... she crossed the line and I left that day and never returned. And still she asked for a favour the following week, hahaha.
This is a woman of significantly above-average levels of independence and intelligence. Not a feminist.
Still, the warning signs were there at the start. Should have pumped and dumped. Lesson learned.
