The sigma male is someone who doesn't partake in social hierarchy unless it fits their needs. They always have a bigger picture in mind that doesn't bother with mundane details.

They tend to be focused strictly on their objectives whether it be seduction or business. He is a wordsmith capable of illustrating canvas in people's minds.

The typically alpha male will elude respect based on social hierarchy whether it's because of wealth, status or physical appearance. The alpha will sit in the middle of the group entertaining the betas and girls with a good story giving him DHV.

A sigma will walk in the group, pat the alpha on the back, crack a joke that is slightly at the expense of the alpha without provoking him. Purposely speak to a beta, get the beta to start talking, meanwhile make the hot girl giggle and isolate her while the alpha is wondering how the fuck did I go from hero to zero that fast.

There's just a different mentality at work. their only attachment a sigma has is to his work. The alpha is attached to his status, how people view him, all that BS, etc.

Typically Alpha's won't fuck with Sigma's because they can't premeditate their reaction like they can with most people.

The nature of duality and self-awareness is at play here too. The cynic and the romantic intertwine. The capitalist and the humanist. The Machiavellian and the altruistic.

Sigmas are introverted Alphas. Sigma doesn't give a shit about social proof because being around people is an emotional drain. Alpha rules by social acceptance. Sigma influences by playing the long game and works the minds of those around him. Adept sigma knows how to influence the mind of the alpha. Sigma rises to the top without anyone noticing and rather likes it this way.

Sigmas are the intellectually dominant males who define the cultural and spiritual parameters of the tribe. It's hard to define a single profile for a Sigma because by definition they will impose their own intellectual and cultural framework on everyone around them. Every Sigma is an intellectually unique free-thinker with, beyond a certain age, truly absolute and total self confidence - this is the only thing they have in common.

When they're young, their place in the heirarchy sits over to the side, parallel to the alphas and treated as an equal who 'rules over no-one' but still rules. However, old Sigmas are the only people Alphas will allow to rule over them. You know you're talking to a true Sigma when his ideas become your own. He doesn't win by forcing you to do as he says - he wins by making you want to.

A Sigma will be owned by an Alpha any day of the week in any social situation, as a rule. The Alpha has the social proof and admiration of the people. Females admire this about the Alpha, and Beta males revere the Alpha. Females will admire Sigmas until an Alpha arrives and displays DHV through social proof. Beta men too. The Sigma's strength is inner strength; he does what he pleases regardless of what people think. This brings him greater honor among alphas. The Alpha has greater outer strength; he manipulates people so that they think highly of him. This brings him greater power among females and beta men. Ethical or not, the Alpha is the king of the jungle. The Sigma will always lose socially to the alpha. If you are Sigma, learn the skills of the Alpha. Your sex life, career interactions, and friendships in general will depend on it. Unless you want to be a Sigma and move to a deserted island somewhere.

The rare exceptions are brilliant prodigies like Steve Jobs or Bruce Wayne, who are necessary by way of some rare skill or wealth that they possess. Not the rule for you and I though.

I think some guys want to believe that this Loner Sigma mentality has some sort of angle they can use socially. No. That's laziness. If youre Sigma, the Alpha in the room will have everything you have plus the people once he arrives at your scene. A Sigma may feel cool and powerful with his biker jacket, swagger, and confident attitude with the ladies but, when the Alpha arrives, the Sigma will likely lose his place.

In the end, a Sigma is just an Alpha who hasn't gained his full skillset yet. And whether or not that skillset comes naturally to the Sigma, it can always be learned.

Late to the party, did a rather well accepted description of this a while ago. Probably too late but may as well. Seemed to help a good number of people.

I'm a Sigma. By others definition. I'm often mistaken for alpha. Though I'm not certain they're mutually exclusive, nor that the labels are worth knowing, just have a different perspective with overlapping skills.

In my day to day life, I own a business, am a serial entrepreneur, and am rather isolated, "mentally ". What I mean by that is even though I go out for many of my hobbies, I'm not interested in socializing with anyone beyond keeping up appearances, or getting something. Alpha individuals (three very alpha friends, long term) seem to actually enjoy the game of interaction. I find it annoying, but easy.

Two of my alpha friends work for me. I own companies and chase investors. The difference in our social group can be described in how people react when we arrive individually.

The alphas are expected and there, both friends are invited to everything, and generally relied on to bring people and women, maybe supplies.

I'm called to help find a location, contact interesting spotlights, the connection guy, always invited vip, but I'm actually treated as a nice surprise if I step in the door. The most common greeting is akin to "wow I thought you'd be too busy".

The alpha stays and enjoys, I get in and get out. Thursday night there's a banging cocktail planned partially, well, mostly by me, for an advisors birthday, I probably won't go. I have shit to do. If I do go it'll be for exactly one hour. I'll grab a beer, dance with 3-5 women, say happy birthday, maybe talk to a perspective investor, and leave. My two Bros will be life of the party before and after I'm there. I rarely stay more than a 90 minutes. I could be making money instead, or reading, or fucking my girl, or lifting, or using the rock wall while it's mostly empty. Anything. 90% of the people there do not have anything at all to offer me.

I've been told by many of my plates that I'm a hat trick. I get offers daily, but never respond. I usually only fuck a girl if she's quite precisely my style, and there are multiple plates in my past, current gf included, that I've chased off public transport because "I just wanted them".

I do non alpha things sometimes, usually others don't understand why, mostly for amusement, sometimes for gain. This could include hosting a lan party, or covering the tab at a meeting, which I leave from early. It's rather spur of the moment though never is it not thought out. It's always directly based on the one or two people in the crowd that I need at the time to like me.

I'm happy to break or ignore rules when I think they're stupid, this has gotten me in potential legal trouble once or twice, but never anything that progressed to court. Usually I'm correct, almost always I get a pass and a Stern warning, on occasion the policy is outright changed. I suppose my sense of self preservation is slightly different than most alphas.

To be fair, rich family, rich heritage, heavily dissociative "I quit going when the term sociopath was starting to be thrown around". Though I don't think I am because I do hold a few very high emotional attachments.

This sounds very keeping up appearances, Machiavellian, manipulative, but it works well for me. If i take notice in someone, they notice, and they work hard. If I'm not paying attention, that's the norm, you probably can't offer me anything, even good entertainment. I entertain myself.

My mom said it best, she still jokes about it. "you act like you own the world, but don't particularly want it."

Anyways, maybe that helps. Probably not. Just been called Sigma a long time now, several years, some say alpha, most say alpha but someone of the RP friends I have definitely say Sigma, the non RP alphas say hat trick, figured some description may help.

sigmas would be classified as losers by mainstream alpha and betas because they do their own thing. but secretly both alphas and betas are so jealous of them or so poorly understand them that they can only ignore the sigmas. MGTOWs would be one kind of sigma
