Started dating a french girl in my University class back in October. Was a 24yo virgin but managed to hold my frame and we ended up becoming exclusive in December. We were having lots of sex and seeing eachother a little too often. In February she told me she loved me and I said it back - since then the relationship has been pretty shitty. She started withholding sex and just generally being a bitch.

I lost my frame big time and became needy and anxious about the status of the relationship. I told her we would break up if her behaviour carries on, the relationship improved for a while and then got worse. We thought we broke up for good a few weeks ago when she basically didn't want to see me or talk to me but we had a long 'honest' talk about our relationship after this and agreed to carry on and make effort to save our relationship, with us both needing some space to focus on ourselves.

I know deep down that I went beta as fuck and the relationship went downhill. She isn't as attracted to me anymore but I'm not sure what to do (I must add that when we do have sex it is good sex and she enjoys it). She has been in France for 2 weeks and was messaging me regularly until a couple of days ago when communication just dropped. I told her in a phone call that she needs to make effort, but she didn't listen. She is online on messenger most of the time but doesn't initiate, although she will reply. Now I'm using dread (as well as I possibly can) but I'm afraid that if I don't contact her she wont bother to contact me and it gives me anxiety and makes me angry. She says nothing is wrong and she's busy, but she comes up with shitty excuses all the time, that she's tired or she's depressed etc.

I think there is a chance to save this, but what I don't understand is what has happened for her to change her mind about us and not make any effort. I haven't been needy for the past few weeks so I'm thinking that either she doesn't want to be with me, she's speaking to someone else or that she's just stubborn and immature and thinks that her behaviour is fine. I recently got a new job and have started working out. She is coming back to my city in 9 days so maybe I should completely ghost her until then?

TL;DR: Girlfriend losing attraction, blames depression and wants space. We agree and everything was fine but now she's ghosting me & communication is off.
